The Knicks were in on Robert from the beginning of FA. They had the first offer in. They matched the highest contract offered (7 million starting point with increases in the contract...honestly this is a bit too rich for my blood but he had multiple offers over 4 million per season so I'm going to let it remain kind of high). And, they had the promise of a starting position which was very much a deciding factor for Robert.
We look forward to helping the Knicks take another step forward as they build for the future!
Year 1 - $5,741,982 Year 2 - $6,086,501 Year 3 - $6,451,695 Year 4 - $7,161,377 -PO Year 5 - $7,949,129
Total: $33,390,684

Welcome to the NEW YORK, Robert!!!. As Walt mentioned, it was without a doubt from the start we wanted to make Rob one of our top targets this off season. We are beyond ecstatic to have you come in and fill a vacant hole in our team that was the starting SF position.
LETS GO KNICKS!!!!!!!!!!

We would also like to endorse Walt Frazier for the best player agent of the year. Quick replies and kept us in the loop at all times during the negotiations. Thanks Walt!!!

I offered 8 year, $320 mil. Included 12 player options. Is this true!? This offer is better in every way to the one he signed. Also, have you seen the timing of this post? It is way too coincidental to be true. Walt is rigging free agency!!! Ian, I demand that you: 1. Remove Walt from being a player agent 2. Ban Walt from the league 3. Void the signing of Eric Bledsoe and sign him to the Nuggets 4. Sentence him to 146 days in Guantanamo Prison 5. Force him to walk naked from the Sept of Baelor to the Red Keep while a nun chants "shame, shame, shame"

5 Years, 25 million from Team B 3 Years, 3.5 million ish from Team C (Jeremiah) 5 Years, 26.4 million from Team D (Alex) 5 Years, 18.3 million from Team E 5 Years, 45 million from Team F
Team A (Knicks) originally offered 5 years, 20 million but once I told him that last offer was on the table he went higher to secure Robert.
Just keep in mind, that $8,000,000-ish in the last year, with the cap at $110,000,000 is 7.27% of the cap. Using last year's 63.1 million cap, that would be equivalent to a $4,536,000 contract. Is it high? Yea but it's not super crazy. I think Covington already proved he's worth about 7% of a team's cap. Possibly a little more than that.
Anyway, Robert is happy with the money and a chance to start, and this amount of money was needed to beat out other offers (and keep it semi-realistic on my end). Spike is happy to get a starter for 7% of his cap.

5 Years, 45 million from Team F wut I told you there was "an offer starting around 7 million. Can you also up your money?" Then you asked "does it have increases" And I said "He had increases, but that is possibly a bigger contract than I would sign him to in the end." If you just mean "damn someone really wanted him" then yea, more or less. Plus they had the cap to spend. But, as I said, that's more than I was really comfortable with.

Lol, you count on him ending up being a good player. This is the money going to a guy who has proven he can crack the rotation on an intentionally losing team.
