Brooklyn Nets - Greg MonroeGreg Monroe has decided to sign with the Brooklyn Nets for the following contract: $114,918,505/5 Years Year 1: $18,452,500 Year 2: $20,482,275 (Player Option) Year 3: $22,735,325 Year 4: $25,236,211 (Player Option) Year 5: $28,012,194 It was a close race with the Pelicans especially with the Andre Drummond trade. But Greg ultimately felt most comfortable staying in the East where they could easily break into the playoffs, with the team that was in his ear all through the process. The Nets sold Greg on being their #1 Option and impressed him with their activity in the Off-season, fielding a lineup that we think covers the weaknesses in Greg's game.

I will not going to argue with the decision of gregs agent to sign in brooklyn.
I did my effort to make him come back, i know i dont have enough talent in my current lineup but if greg monroe wait and be patient detroit can build a continder team. I frustrated for his decision..i think at first he never consider coming back to detroit. As far as i know of real life greg monroe his departure in pistons due to drummond and being second priority. In this league i value him more than any player in my team.
I felt being betrayed. If i predict this will be happen i trade him last season. I keep him for nothing. Frustrated. I'm thinking to quit.

He left because the next best player on your team is JR Smith. Just rebuild a bit. Hold onto your draft picks and you'll be fine.

I have faried and a possible pairing 1 or 2 good player. I dispose nene contract for the possiblity of getting good quality player will play along his side..and one pending trade for unloading contracts of jr smith to improve the lineup.

But if you do, you let those that screw you over end up winners and I know I'm a winner and there's no way I let mistakes and choices by others predict how I manage my team going forward. I'm a winner, not a loser or a cheater!! It's been 2-3 years since I lost Duncan and I'm still pissed. You have some right to be. But its done now. Now you show everyone how good you are. Don't let it make you into a quitter or loser. Best of luck anyhow...

I'm so disappointed in this is really thought a core of Drummond, Hayward and Knight would be enough to convince greg, oh well

May be true but I asked Danny before trading for dre and he said greg wanted it so in really surprised since my team has higher rated players at every position. But not use dwelling on it what's done is done I'm sure it was a tough decision

Danny, kindly explain why he did not choose Detroit. Greg didn't return because of the lack of talent on the roster. I gave him more time to pull something together than I did some other teams just because he had BRs on him - I gave him more time than I did the Lakers(who probably would have gotten him if Kobe wasn't a first option by default) and the Rockets. When it became clear to me that the names he mentioned were not likely to sign, I just couldn't rationalize keeping him in the race anymore with only Faried and role-players on the roster.

Dalembert was cut by the Knicks and has not found work to this day, Faried is expiring, you were trading away JR Smith, and you literally have no Point Guard. There's not a single long-term thing on your roster and I felt that Greg could do better.

Danny sent me a pm about the reasoning and while I might not agree I definitely respect his decision and can see how he came to it.
Good luck to greg in bkn and the nets!

Surprised he chose Brooklyn over New Orleans. Monroe must have bad blood with Drummond.

Nets was not a bad choice. They have a solid starting lineup with Monroe. Plus, they have lots of all-around players so Monroe will probably be their 1st offensive option.

Without reading much in the thread after you posted this, I will tell you some things. Look at the NBA and look at how those teams build good teams. They draft well. They have to draft extremely well. And, sometimes, even when they do that, they don't win or keep their players. It is a lot harder in here to rebuild. Mainly because BRs aren't traded. But it is the best way to build a team. Look at the Bucks and Nuggets. The GSW only needed one signing. What would you rather do, just hop in to a winning team? Or work your ass off and win and prove to people that you are a good GM? I think you are a good GM. Rebuild. Be patient. And it will be worth it in the end.
