2015 Player Options For a player to opt out they must receive at least 3 of 5 votes from the Trade Committee. Votes are tallied next to each players name.
Players who opted out are highlighted in GREY.
Chicago Bulls 0/5 OPT IN - 81 - Arron Afflalo - $7,937,500
Dallas Mavericks 2/5 OPT IN - 77 - Devin Harris - $2,230,360 5/5 OPT OUT - 76 - D.J. Augustin - $1,000,000 Reasons: buried in rotation, high rated player earning half that of Devin Harris, who is also underpaid.
Denver Nuggets 0/5 OPT IN - 82 - Nikola Pekovic - $10,186,318 0/5 OPT IN - 79 - Mario Chalmers - $5,550,000 0/5 OPT IN - 77 - Andre Miller - $3,980,360 0/5 OPT IN - 72 - Brandon Rush - $3,696,300
Detroit Pistons 2/5 OPT IN - 82 - J.R. Smith - $10,171,909
Golden State Warriors 3/5 OPT OUT - 77 - Rodney Stuckey - $2,775,000 Reasons: Improving in real life (1 extra assist, rebound per game and improved 3PT% by 12%), just won a ring but could get paid a lot more elsewhere.
Indiana Pacers 0/5 OPT IN - 78 - O.J. Mayo - $9,856,800 0/5 OPT IN - 68 - Lamar Odom - $1,680,360
Los Angeles Clippers 4/5 OPT OUT - 74 - Shelvin Mack - $490,180 Reasons: Old league minimum contract, can definitely earn more elsewhere.
Miami Heat 1/5 OPT IN - 99 - LeBron James - $22,112,500 0/5 OPT IN - 87 - Dwyane Wade - $21,560,000 0/5 OPT IN - 83 - Deron Williams - $21,042,800

Portland Trailblazers 0/5 OPT IN - 86 - Tim Duncan - $8,889,601
Sacramento Kings 5/5 OPT OUT - 76 - Timofey Mozgov - $593,117 Reasons: Much higher stock playing for the Cavs in real life, could get paid 20x more than this elsewhere.
San Antonio Spurs 0/5 OPT IN - 78 - Maurice Williams - $4,928,400
Washington Wizards 1/5 OPT IN - 72 - Chris Douglas-Roberts - $490,180

Looks fine. Good call on Stuckey. Who voted for Lebron to opt out by the way?

Surprised Aaron Afflalo did not want a new contract But this way, he will become a FA next off-season when there will be more money for everyone. Also, he is a starter for 1 of the best teams in the East.

Looks fine. Good call on Stuckey. Who voted for Lebron to opt out by the way? 'Twas me. My argument was the Heat are getting pretty old (Wade and Deron are the other 2 in the "big 3" there and both can expect further rating decreases from where they are, probably as quickly as midseason or early season this coming year). My argument was also predicated on LeBron being smart just like IRL and NOT signing a long contract elsewhere. I thought he would leave the old-ass Heat who will not be as good next year and go to a team who is younger with a better future and isn't cap hamstrung for the next 3-4 years like the Heat are. More reasons than that but basically, I think the Heat look like a disaster going forward, to be honest, other than LeBron of course. Old, diminishing skills, cap situation stinks, no one is going to want their expensive players either (they are paying Bynum 32 million the next two years..Jeff Green has a big, long contract, Deron is there for awhile and paid way too much, etc etc etc.) Anyway, criticize if you want but I can't imagine LeBron staying there past this year, and IMO he would have left for a much better situation as soon as this year on a short contract.

Then again, if he signed a short deal elsewhere it would have been a complicated situation. Even with the upcoming big soft cap, his future starting salary would have depended on how much his new team could offer under the cap because of the lack of bird rights. By staying with the heat for 1 more season, he leaves his options open moving forward financially speaking.

Interesting that the committee believes Stuckey is going to get paid a lot more elsewhere. He just signed the contract last off-season that he just opted out of and I believe that contract was signed before he got a ratings decrease from 80 to 77. Based on his real life improvement that was mentioned above does that mean that the committee members that voted he opt out believe Stuckey should be getting a ratings increase?

But maybe, Stuckey was scheduled to get his rating down when he signed his new contract. Also, Stuckey got 2 player options in his contract and those are usually included when a player accepts a contract for less than he would usually take.

I get what you're saying in regards to having Player Options in a contract but Stuckey also made 2X more in D5 this season than IRL.
Biased opinion here but I would think that a guy who just won a title and was the backup PG would want to stick around. Especially since he's been in the league 8 years and has never been on a good team.

LeBron James gives Cleveland one more year to get a decent team around him before making a decision on coming home.

By staying with the heat for 1 more season, he leaves his options open moving forward financially speaking. I may be misreading something you're saying, but he can make as much money as anyone else as a starting salary this coming year. Kings for example have a huge cap space number, he could get as much as the Player Agents/the league allows. Then just do it again the following year when the cap goes up. Opting out this year wouldn't really affect his starting salary this year, it would affect the ability to get that 5th year that only the BR team can give which is also a lot of money. But, if I'm LeBron, I'm betting on myself remaining a stud, signing a 1-year deal with a better team than the Heat (there are better teams out there IMO), and seeing what opportunities arise after that. When all is said and done though, no skin off my back. Just my opinion. I'm the "10th man" who disagrees b/c everyone else agrees.

Meh, I would have voted for Lebron to opt in but I think it was equally to vote for him to opt out based on the things you said which are true. About Lebron's potential next season salary with bird rights I was thinking about Lebron going for the $40M per season or something like that.

Why did Devin Harris choose to stay in Dallas if he is underpaid? Couldn't he earn more money elsewhere?
Harris had 2/5 votes to leave, Stuckey had 3/5 to leave. What's the difference in their situations? Both are rated exactly the same, but Stuckey makes more money and just won a championship but he left and Harris stayed.
I realize this comes across as bitching, but I'd really just like to hear some feedback from the voting committee members for how these decisions were arrived at. Especially if all sim and real life factors are supposed to be factored into the decision making process.

Especially if all sim and real life factors are supposed to be factored into the decision making process. I didn't really compare the two when I was voting, but I think they're pretty different cases. Harris is 3 years older, and has been in the same city for 3 years - and is pretty much just your average first guard off the bench at this point. As for Stuckey, he's a guy who just signed a deal, had a good season and should probably capitalize before he gets too old. He can still start for a few teams and is actually probably going to get around 4m or the MLE from Indiana IRL. As for the championship argument, I didn't really put that into my thought process since Stuckey probably won't experience the same boost in demand that say, Ariza and Barea got off their championship seasons. But it would have been a point against him staying since I'd think he'd try to capitalize in the same way. Similar role, pretty similar situation as bench guys exceeding expectations.

Stuckey opting out isn't the end of the world I just wanted some explanation as to what the thought process is behind the voting of why he's leaving. Danny you said you didn't factor him winning a championship into the equation? I don't understand why that would not be a big factor. He's been in the league 8 years and never been on a good team, finally goes to a good team, wins a championship, and then leaves? I'll have to disagree big time with you on that one.
Yes, he very likely will resign with the Pacers IRL, but he will continue to be a bench player for them which is the same role he had here in D5.

He's been in the league 8 years and never been on a good team, finally goes to a good team, wins a championship, and then leaves? I'll have to disagree big time with you on that one. This actually isn't uncommon with guys under 30. The thought process is pretty much: I performed well on a championship team, I've gotten the ring - now I better cash in while I still can at peak value. Barea left the Mavs for 20m/4 years, Ariza left the Lakers for 33m/5 years, Okur left the Pistons back then for 50m/6 years. I didn't apply that line of thinking because I don't think people will be lining up for Stuckey here in D5 just because he was the 6th man on the championship team here. It doesn't boost a player's value like an IRL championship would. And hey, it's not like it's a lock that he'll leave. Maybe he just wants the full MLE or a longer term deal - that's often the case. *that was pretty much the basis of my vote
