I should recuse my self of this vote, and I will. But I want to say that the eye test on Chandler tells me that he alters a lot more shots than he actually blocks and the difference he makes on the defensive end of the floor is huge. At the offensive end, he is always in the right position at the right time for the lob passes on the Ellis-Chandler pick and rolls.
He's the 4th option on offense, he knows his bread is buttered on pick and roll lobs and offensive boards and he does just that. I think that needs to be accounted for.

chandler is playing at almost an elite level all season. I own him in a lot of leagues and the dude is outplaying a lot of people that are rated higher than him. He is definitely up there now, just dont be afraid to adjust his rating down dramatically when he falls off a cliff sometime next year.
But for now he looks like a top 5 C. Name 5 better centers this year? Hell, name 3. The dude is a walking double double, has been playing above the rim, and is a monster in the paint on the defensive end of the floor.
85.

1st off, Bosh isn't a 5, unless you want to call Ibaka a 5 too. And Horford is NOT playing better than Chandler. His rebounding (6.9 vs 14) and FG% (52 vs 65) are much worse, to get slightly more points. (16.9 vs 11.3) The only 5's that are playing better than Chandler this year statistics wise, would be Marc Gasol and Boogie. You can make the argument that AD, Aldridge, Ibaka, and Bosh are playing better than him, but I consider then all 4's. Dwight isn't playing anywhere close to Chandler, either. Remember he's missed a crapload of games.
Do players missing half their games play into ratings here? I think it should.

I want to bump this, I think this needs more discussion, and I think it is a good discussion to have.
Chandler is the key piece in the paint for the Mavs. What he does, beyond stats, is amazing. He protects the paint and makes up for Monta Ellis's sometimes poor defense, Dirk's bad post defense, and Chandler's mistakes.

We rated him his current rating because he was the same player he is now and always has been. Just because he is on your team does not mean you have to pitch for an increase. You act like he has not always covered other players guys and his own. His rating is perfect.

They're playing very close, but look at the stats, and Tyson Chandlers defensive presence is even better than cousins. But they should be rated about the same, 88.

Tyson Chandler is having a better season in almost every category than Al Jefferson... and he is an 87. No man, this is just ridiculous. I honestly don't understand how you arrive at some of your ratings. Jefferson is a career 17 and 9 player with multiple 20 and 10 years. He's a huge offensive threat in the post, especially on the left block. Chandler is a career 9 and 9 guy with no reliable offensive game, and he has no strong ability to shoot the ball. Chandler is great at playing his role as a defender. rebounder, and clean up guy on offense. His ability to play within himself and stick to his role is what makes him so efficient. This shouldn't be confused with thinking Chandler is a complete player deserving of a rating in the high 80s. That implies he's an elite player capable of leading his team. That's just historically false when looking at Chandler's career.

Did you say Chandler is better than Cousins? I think you may be slipping. Cousins has a higher PER, PTS, STL, BLk, REB, AST, and FT%. Only thing Chandler has him beat in his FG% because all he does it dunk. Their stats aren't even close to being the same.

The Chandlers are my homeboys. But Tyson IS having a ridiculously great year and it should reflect in his ratings. 88 is high, I meant 85. Twas a bit high when I said he was just as good as cousins. His FG% is off the charts, though, and his defensive presence is ridiculous. He definitely isnt <85.

His FG% is off the charts, though, and his defensive presence is ridiculous. He definitely isnt <85. NO! just, no! Tyson is not anywhere near an 85. Like Jeremiah already said, he’s great at playing within his role. I’d like to compare him to Robin Lopez, not because I think that RoLo is better, but I think people have a solid grasp on what RoLo does. He’s very limited offensively. But compared to Tyson Chandler, Robin Lopez is wonder-boy on offense. Tyson has a usage rate of only 12.9 compared to RoLo’s 16.5, and Tyson takes 83% of his shots from under 3 feet, while RoLo takes only 55% of his shots from within 3 feet. Almost half (.47) of Tyson’s FGA attempts are dunks, compared to RoLo’s (.098). 33% of his boards are offensive rebounds, compared to RoLo’s 45%. Don’t get me wrong here, not advocating for a change for RoLo, just showing you that as limited as you think RoLo is offensively, Tyson is even moreso. That’s why he will never be near an 85. He cannot create his own shot. His defense is great, but its not even the best in the league, which it would have to be to reconcile his offensive game for an ~85 rating. And for one last jab at Tyson, I don’t think that seeing the great performance of other big men playing against Dallas while Tyson is out does anything to support Tyson’s worth. It only makes him look good because Dallas has NO ONE else to do the job. Almost any tall body would do the trick but I think the best option they have is like Greg Smith or something lol. Plus all those rebounds are easy to get when Dirk and Rondo are your biggest competition. Actually, fuck Tyson chandler. I’m gonna change my rating to an 81.

Man, I've watched even more RLO than I have TC, and I do appreciate RLO. I'd give him around an 82, he is better offensively, but he isn't the rim protector that chandler is. He does such a good job altering shots.

82. Chandler has been the anchor of the Mavericks this season, maybe their best player. But, as others have pointed out... he is who we thought he is
