Minnesota Timberwolves Trade: 73 Nikola Pekovic $4,503,600 $4,837,200
Total: $4,503,600
Portland Trailblazers Trade: 78 Nicolas Batum $2,155,365 $3,166,231
Total: $2,155,365
Portland has like 7 mil in cap, so no problem there.
I do this to fill out my lineup better. Pekovic and Batum are pretty even in my book on value (if you didn't see what Pek did while starting this year, take a look). However, I've got Love set in either PF or C, so that leaves Hickson/Seraphin as legit options for the other spot, plus Maxiell, plus even Vesely can slide up to PF on occasion. So...Pekovic has a little less of a spot here right now.
Batum slides in and really completes my starting lineup of:
Love Hickson Batum Tyreke Rubio
Sounds good to me. Portland will explain his reasoning here soon I'd think.

Good trade, ratings here doesn't matter, Pekovic is a great player, like Batum and they are two good prospects.

I accept,
Wasn't that keen on giving away Batum, but I was in desperate need of a big. I was looking for a young big to get and I think I found myself a really good one. Ratings shouldn't be considered since I believe Pek will be getting a rating increase after his performance last season.

With Leonard and Batum, Portland would have to pick one or the other eventually so this deal works fine for them. This is another very good trade for TimberWolves. They are add more excitement to the starting lineup and fill a hole at the sf position. Moreover, the extra cap space next season will help them to go for some good free agent.
