Dirk Nowitzki
Current Rating: 90 Suggested Rating: 87
At this point, you might as well call me the "Star Killer", but, I feel it is time Dirk gets a decrease. Not only because of this year, but because of the past few years.
The argument:
18.5/5.8/2.1 PPG/RPG/AST with half a block and steal a game. Shooting 46.4% from the field this season. And I get that he now has all these weapons around him. But, it is like with the Spurs players, they all can't be rated 90+ just because they all can be 90+ players.
Take a look at his last 2 seasons, 2013-14, and 2012-13.
21.7/6.2/2.7 PPG/RPG/AST 13-14 on 49.7% from the field 17.3/6.8/2.5 ^ ^ ^ 12-13 on 47.1% from the field
This season he is shooting 34.1% from downtown, in 13-14 he shot 39.8% and in 12-13 he shot 41.4% from three.
He has been deeply inconsistent these past 3 seasons and I don't think he deserves a 90 rating anymore. I don't feel he is a top 10 PF in the league, or even a top 3-5 PF in the league anymore.
We, as a community, are slow to lower our "legends", and it is time Dirk gets a decrease.
Just my 2 cents. We can still keep his scoring high, like it already is, but decrease his athleticism, and his rebounding, as well as his defensive stats, and stamina.

For reference, and they are kind of the same players, Rudy Gay is averaging 20.4/4.1/6.0 PPG/AST/RBD on 44.9% shooting and 37.6% from 3.
I know Gay is a volume shooter and is considered "inefficient" but Gay is putting up better numbers this year than Dirk, and the last 2 seasons as well, if we disregard the shooting percentages.

87 for me. Still a great rating and he's still a great player.

Not going to argue too much against this, though I would prefer that you take another look at him post all-star break because he often picks up mid-season. He doesn't have as many plays drawn for him and he's being asked to not take to the post as often to "save himself for the playoffs".
I personally think he should be an 88, just a point under Lamarcus Aldridge.

Its not going to be a big rating change, so it wont be top priority.

Dirk's minutes are down but his Per 36 numbers are right around where they've always been. There is definitely some minute management with him but he's still an incredible player. He gets an 88-89 from me with most of that small decrease going to stamina and other such stats.

The Per 36 shows that a lot of the decrease in his number is due to minutes decrease but his shooting % has a big hit too and they are still winning.
87 for me. A lot of it should be on FG and physicals

I want to bump this back to the first page, as we are at the ASB, with more than half the games played.
We, as the RC, need to do some serious work and catch up on the ratings quickly, so we don't run into lowering a bunch of guys right before the playoffs start. We need to lower them now so everyone can get the feel for their team and make the moves if necessary.
