DeMar DeRozan has decided to sign with the Toronto Raptors for the following deal:
Year 1: $12,945,873 Year 2: $13,593,166 Year 3: $14,272,824 Year 4: $14,986,466 player option Year 5: $15,735,789
DeRozan received a ton of interest and had a very hard time making a selection. Other very competitive offers came from Oklahoma City, Portland, Phoenix, and of course his old team, the Cavaliers. There were also a handful of other, less-appealing offers. At the end of the day, DeMar wanted a team that he could continue to develop and grow with, and a team that he would be able to lead rather than just being a roleplayer. He wasn't really interested in playing in a big market, and is certainly not a ring-chaser at this point in his career. He was a unique case, and had to find a team that fit his personality.
Also factoring in his decision was the commitment of Bryan Colangelo to DeRozan. Many GMs sent multiple inquiries about status updates, but Bryan was by far the most involved out of the GMs. DeRozan is excited to return to the city that drafted him, and sees great opportunity in playing with an established frontcourt. He hopes to lead the team to the playoffs and continue to grow as a player.
