Current Rating: 79 Suggested Rating:70-72
The guy hardly played last season before getting surgery in Jan 2013. He dudnt play at all this past season as well.
Its one thing not to change a player rating of those that are young and have a chance at a comeback.
If he does ever play again it will be as a player/coach for a young Sixers team.
If Jason Terry deserved a decrease of 11 points then there is no reason we cant decrease JRich who IMHO is done.
At most a player/coach...

Based on the standards that have been set by other injured players, JRich should stay at a 78 until he plays next season.
He also has already received a decrease from where he used to be (81-83). If he was still up there I would definitely bring him down to a 78 or so, but I think he is fine where he is for now.
Midsession next year, if he is back and healthy but shows further diminished skills, then drop him again.

If you think this, I want to see your Steve Nash, Danillo Galinari, Derrick Rose, and Kobe Bryant posts with ratings for 70.

Just because you are pissed at Walt for lowering some players from your team doesn't mean you have to try and kill the value of his trade. If you'll remember right, we all voted to lower those guys. Not just Walt.

I actually agree with JR here, 78 is a little ridiculous.
I don't see how you guys are translating 10 ppg...on 40% shooting... on the Philadelphia 76ers... a year and a half ago... as a 78. Shit, if that makes someone a 78, then Thaddeus Young's 15 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.8 spg, on 53% shooting during that same season should have netted him 85+
No offense, but if this guy was on JR's team, someone would have knocked him down to low 70s.
My vote = 72

Then I change my vote on Kobe Steve Nash and Derrick Rose to 72 and will make my Danillo Gallinari post when I get off work.

No offense, but if this guy was on JR's team, someone would have knocked him down to low 70s. My vote = 72 Actually, long before I ever thought about acquiring JRich I did look at him for a rating decrease. I decided then exactly what I posted here. He needs to come back and play again. If he looks bad, take him down. If he looks decent, keep him around there. Also a 72, even if you don't have the same mindset as Jeremiah or myself, is still too low for what he contributed. 74-75 seems like a non-biased rating. 72 is too low if you think he does deserve a decrease, which I don't think we can judge yet.

I also agree with Jeremiah, there may be some duplicitous people posting things right now, because the same arguments that were used on those other players is not being used here, even though the situations are similar.
JRich already got a performance-based decrease. This looks like an injury-based decrease to me.

Also if JRich is a 72 then we need to take a lot of other players down to the 60's

Don't really understand the Rose and Kobe comparisons because their numbers were good before injury. Richardson shot 40% from the field with a PER under 15 the entire 11-12 season and 33 games into 12-13.

I think the Rose/Kobe Precedent thing here, where we don't lower a player because of an injury, shouldn't be a precedent that we use here. Those are different guys than what Jason Richardson is. This is the problem with player ratings and making these arguments. We think 17 points and 10 boards is an 86 because, well that's what Duncan gets and that's what he is. Or we think that because we didn't lower anyone because of injury, we cannot and won't lower anyone because of an injury.
I think the Kobe/Rose comparison is dumb. The better comparison to make is Andrew Bynum. Now, I joined in February, so I don't know what he was rated and how far he dropped since his time in LA. But, we recently put him up for discussion. He had missed a full year in 12-13, came back this year, and seemed to kill two teams as being a bad attitude guy. YET WE ONLY DROPPED HIM TO A 78. 2 points we dropped him, we dropped him 2 points. Now, why did we only drop him two points? I think it has something to do with him not playing much this season, having age on his side, and playing half way decent in 26 games.
In here, we have mostly used this this season's performances as a guide to use for ratings. J-Rich didn't play this year, compiled no stats, so do we rate him a zero? Past performances are not indicative of future production. We can only rate J-Rich on what he did in the 12-13 season, regardless of how we feel he will do in the future. If you guys feel that 10.5/1.5/3.5 a game is worthy of a 70, then we need to go through these ratings one by one and kill everyone's again.

I also think that this is a witch hunt by JR to hurt Walt's team as Walt has hurt JR's team. This topic got no discussion all year. Jeremiah was shopping J-Rich for a few weeks so everyone who received an offer from him likely looked at his rating and/or contract. Yet no one else felt it necessary to make a thread. Now, J-Rich moves to a different team, in the playoff hunt, and that team just so happens to be owned by the guy responsible for decreasing most of JR's players. This seems way more personal than it should be.
If this were a court room, I'd motion for a dismissal on those grounds, but it isn't.

The key thing here is that JRich hasn't been the caliber player Kobe, Drose, Nash or even Bynum was for many many years, honestly I'm not sure he ever was. he was already looking washed up and on the downside of his career and now hasn't seen the court for over a year. He's a scrub at this point and I honestly think my 74 is generous.

He's a scrub at this point and I honestly think my 74 is generous. The same thing could have been said about Jermaine "most important player on the Warriors" O' Niel when he was missing games. 35 games is not enough of a sample size for me. Jose Calderon was only shooting like 16% for the first few weeks of this season and now he's number 4 overall for 3pt FG%. If you look at the stats in the Sim it's not like he's a world beater, 8ppg on 44% and like 39% from three the last time I checked. He is literally only playing at his real life level already, in the sim where he is my #1 scoring option.

If in the Sim Richardson was averaging 20 and 6 I would fully agree with you regardless of this trade. But he's averaging 8ppg.

I'm going to go with a 74. What Josh and JR have said make the most sense to me, but I'm not going to go quite so low. 70 in this league basically means the player is useless and if Richardson is able to come back I think he can still at least contribute a little, even if just as a spot up three point shooter. But it's clear the Golden State days are long gone and even his resurgence as a good 3rd option in Pheonix was years ago. He's now 33 and will be coming off a serious injury.

Seriously, he averages 8 ppg right now in the game, why are you guys trying to lower him?

JR I also want to know why when I offered you J-Rich you saw his rating, why didn't you make the thread then? Why do you wait until he gets traded to Walt?

I didnt want him then. Paying that contract for a player whos done and injured. If he had a team option i might had. But why make that trade. That would have been stupid..

I thought the point was to make people in the game play like they do in real life? Yea this has been one of the standards that Ian has always checked out. Since we don't have the rating database, we are not quite sure where things lie, but JRich is not outperforming his real-life numbers so I don't see why he is due a decrease either. Wish someone would have put this up before I got him because now no one believes anything I say, but honestly I made my trade for Calderon, not JRich. I took JRich to make the money work jn the trade, and also because the other option was MarShon Brooks and I didn't want his long contract. JRich is here to play decentthis year and then he is an expiring contract. I don't really care if he gets lowered, personally, but I do care that a standard has been set and a ratimg of 72 or whatever is waaaaaaaay too low and does feel like a personal attack. I looked at JRich like a month ago and said to myself "no ine will lower him because he is hurt and he needs to come back and show what kind of player he is now."

I didnt want JRich..i want calderon...lol You wanted both.. Im sure you thought about that whole JRich situation a month ago. Is that when you were crying because we were playing better than you. Was it before you made a list of my players for decrease? JRich is old. The guy hasnt played well in a while. Wow he avg 10ppg for a rebuilding Sixers team. He wont even be on their roster next season. They will prob buy him out. At least my vets play. Injury no excuse. You know what..lets end it. Lets not lower him. Im sure you really want Calderon raised because of the playoffs. Your team barely made the playoffs. Who knows how they have played so well as of late. Hope this trade messes that up..
