I know there will be some push back on this after the previous couple of trades of future picks for current mid 1st picks but here is my rationale:

With the addition of Harden, and dealing of the #9 pick, we have to approach things a little differently. Adding young guys will be harder and harder for us going forward. That is ok with our existing young core but again, something to consider. We definitely like this overall draft quality better than the upcoming ones and want to go ahead and take advantage of this now, instead of waiting years to use this asset. 2026 is a long way off.

Ultimately, in this draft, even with the addition of Harden we are only moving back 10 picks (9 to 19) and still are able to get a guy I have ranked in my top 15. So we have a very specific target for this pick and he fits our long term plans perfectly.

Looking at our draft moves in total, this gives us the #19 pick and James Harden for the #9 pick and 2026 1st. Our team gets a lot better and we stay in a relatively solid draft and get a top 15 target of ours.
