I signed FVV and then traded him away before the deadline last year. That trade helped me tank and get the number one pick in the draft which turned into Chet (RIP Chet). The signing of Lauri Markkanen to pair with Chet is one that I believe in long term. For that to work, I need an actual NBA point guard to go along with them which isn't Collin Sexton.

I achieved the goal from the initial trade. I will no longer have the rights to FVV but should be in a good position to retain him should he decide to opt out of his deal.

Every move I make is to further the goals of the 2023-2024 team as this year is lost without Chet and without my own first. While this move makes me a better basketball team today, I believe it makes me a better one in the future.

Wasn’t thrilled with Fred’s recent play — some real Kemba decline vibes with his workload under Nick “Anti-Rest” Nurse and his 37 MPG ethos. Do I love Sexton as a player? Not really — but he’s 24, has birds and decent value, and ultimately I like him at whatever extension I’ll get than whatever I’d have to do for FVV. Wendell Moore was a draft favorite of mine, so I swap him for Reaves who I had no birds on and figure will get bids up to full MLE this offseason.

Oubre I’m not expecting much but he provides expiring depth when he is healthy and that’s about it — don’t have birds, but I don’t think he’s gonna be at the River Walk past this season anyway unless he takes his PO.
