Jordan Poole has decided to return to the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland and Hanamichi Sakuragi. Jordan received an immense amount of interest right out of the gate in free agency, with three full max offers from the Knicks, Pacers, and Jazz at the outset, followed by offers from the Pelicans and Kings. The Cavaliers initially opened with an offer below the max, but eventually ended up matching the max offers on the table, guaranteeing a starting position in the lineup, and lastly providing the luxury of a Player Option in Jordan's fifth year of this deal. He will be 27 when the Option needs exercise -- at the same time as the new TV money will be juicing caps -- which we feel provides Jordan the best opportunity to potentially secure another significant, if not max, contract for his third deal in the League or ample security in the event of catastrophic injury. Terms and Conditions of his deal with Cleveland are below: Year 1: $30,913,750 Year 2: $33,232,281 Year 3: $35,550,813 Year 4: $37,869,344 Year 5: $35,550,813 (PO) Total: 5 years, $173,117,001 We'd like to thank all the teams involved for their interest in Jordan, and wish them the best of luck in the rest of the offseason.

Can't believe he chose a team that benched him over Luke Kennard in playoffs, and where he clearly is behind Lavine and CJ in shooting guard depth chart. This as ever would have been clear case of disgruntled player leaving original team for a larger role in another team (e.g Brunson)

Ian NobleI may be mis-remembering... but is that 5th year legal? I thought contracts can either go up, or down (or stay stagnant)... but can't go up and THEN down, basically (nor down and THEN up). Do we still have that rule?

Middleton had that a few years back too as a structure. It does look weird on paper but it also has precedent in the NBA (infamously the Tyler Johnson 9-18-18-9 contract)

I researched it last FA and didn't see any reason not to allow it.

Welcome back Jordan!
By the way, what is shooting guard? Is that a term coming from ancient basketball?
