This series is one of those outcomes that makes me think NBA Live does not sim games as independent events. The way teams can obviously overachieve or underachieve for stretches during the season but typically regress to the mean also implies this (I was almost in the playoffs at one point, ended up second last). Whether it's a momentum mechanic or something else, it really feels like there's something working behind the scenes. Maybe it's just a coincidence though.

Not easy to do unfortunately, not least because all my code that I've built over the years all sources specifically from this existing system. My best approach is to keep testing it and hopefully improving it.

I wonder if basketball-gm is better now with all the controls that it allows to GM.
