You know my boss said something the other day that took me a little by surprise. We were talking about which young worker should get the promote statement this year on their annual performance report. We were debating between a worker who is supervised by the person I supervise and a worker who is not in my chain. The worker not in my chain had really, really strong records that I ranked above the guy in my chain. However, a different person had the guy in my chain above the guy I had first, putting them in a tie. My boss suggested that since I "owned" one of the guys and that I put him lower, that should factor in and speak enough toward who should get the promote statement.
The problem with this was I never viewed it that way. My job is to oversee operations for the entire company, so I view everyone as "my" people, regardless if they're in my direct chain or not. I was caught off guard by my bosses remarks and it was telling to me how some people view these decisions. Personal stakes in the matter clearly impact judgement and they project that onto others, as if that's what drives their decision making.
Personal anecdotal story to simply say the only thing that is driving my arguments is my perception of fairness for the league. In fact, I'm literally arguing against myself. I have max spot available this summer with Holiday/Brunson/Giannis on my roster. It should be enough to lure in Jokic, should he simply want to win a championship. Jokic and Giannis would be OP for the league.
I'm arguing that players like Jokic and Dame shouldn't leave and it's regardless of my personal gain or loss. I just so happen to have a loyal star in Giannis...and if he suddenly decides he isn't loyal in real life then I'm screwed.

Well first off I do think KD leaving GSW should be in strong consideration based on his real decision (as I've stated) and second off it's a blatant troll job. I don't think I have a real shot at him. But I may still try 🤔🤔🤔

You know my commish said something the other day that took me a little by surprise. We were talking about which team should get the first pick this year on their annual draft lottery. We were debating between a GM who is friends with the GM I know well and a GM who is not in my circle and doesn't trade with me. The GM not in my circle had really, really strong records that I ranked above the GM in my circle. However, a different person had the GM in my circle above the guy I had first, putting them in a tie. My commish suggested that since I "owned" one of the GMs and that I put him lower, that should factor in and speak enough toward who should get the first pick.
The problem with this was I never viewed it that way. My job is to oversee the draft lottery for the entire league, so I view all GMs as "my" people, regardless if they're in my direct circle or not. I was caught off guard by my commissioner's remarks and it was telling to me how some people view these decisions. Personal stakes in the matter clearly impact judgement and they project that onto others, as if that's what drives their decision making.
Personal anecdotal story to simply say the only thing that is driving my arguments is my perception of fairness for the league. In fact, I'm literally arguing against myself. I have lots of assets available this summer with Franz/Bagley/Bones on my roster. It should be enough to lure in that first pick, should the GM simply want to trade it. First overall and all my other picks would be OP for the league.
I'm arguing that picks like first overall shouldn't be bargaining chips and it's regardless of my personal gain or loss. I just so happen to have a lot of my own picks...and if the lottery suddenly decides to not go my way then I'm screwed.

Interesting how that's a discussion now. If he had never been traded from Indiana would that be a conversation topic? Doubtful.

Because it feels targeted, political, and biased after you just personally scrutinized the rosters and posted numerous decrease threads. Only suggesting things after signings and trades occur is just bias and targeted gamesmanship, using rating systems to personally impact your direct competition.

Lmao you mean signing and trading for overated players isn’t taking advantage of the system? If I sign a 77 overall bum off the FA list right before the playoffs, I basically cheat the system since he can’t be SWd. It goes both ways.

So long as Mr Barber doesn't mind us repaying the favour, which he doesn't seem to, I think I'm kinda good with it now though.

Only suggesting things after signings and trades occur is just bias and targeted gamesmanship, using rating systems to personally impact your direct competition. First off, surely you aren't suggested that we go through every free agent and post rating change threads? That's just nonsensical with the backlog of rating changes we already have. Secondly, aren't you using the rating system to impact competition? Obviously if Randle was actually playing like an 85, you wouldn't be able to get him for the price of an 82. But to trade for an 85, for the price of an 82, and then argue that no one should be allowed to stockwatch him to 82 because he was just traded? That makes no sense lol.

Haha, in fairness, I only just did that after I won 4 games in a row to shake things up and get NBA Live to remember that my team is actually garbage. I intended to change it back after I lost again but forgot lol.
