Chimezie Metu has agreed to join the Minnesota Timberwolves, signing a 3 year contract worth $3,750,000. The final year is a team option. Year 1: $1,250,000 Year 2: $1,250,000 Year 3: $1,250,000 (Team Option)
We tried to create more interest around my client but Walt was the only one to step forward and make an offer, even slightly increased it despite no competition for the player, so it didn't make sense to keep him waiting.
Metu is accepting a contract very similar to a 2nd round pick with some extra money, and will try to make the most of this opportunity to develop and earn a spot in the league to hopefully get paid in his next contract.
We are excited for this opportunity in Minnesota, Go Wolves!

I'm basically betting on and hoping that he can become a serviceable backup big man for this team. I'm really thin in the frontcourt, ESPECIALLY with Thomas Bryant injured to start the season. I do hope to have a starter-level signing this off-season, too, but I legit like Metu and hope his Team Option is a no-brainer by that time.
Welcome to Minnesota!
