We currently have this rule for free agents rated above 70 during regular season free agency: You must offer more than the league minimum to sign a player rated above 70 (except during Off Season Free Agency).I propose that we get rid of this rule (this is not out of personal gain, but rather I'm a PA who has had to turn down multiple offers just now due to that rule). It seems to me that if a PA is involved, then the PA can make a judgment on whether or not a minimum contract is fair to a player. There's clearly some veteran guys who would sign to contenders for a minimum contract, and there's probably even some fringe younger players who would take a minimum rather than sitting around doing nothing. Anyway just wanted to open the floor up to discussion

Thanks for posting it Josh I/we implemented the rule because it was felt that there were too many players on the league minimum, but it's a totally arbitrary rule and I think we should leave it up to the player agents to decide it. I'm in favour of repealing the rule.

Its really unrealistic when a player is just sitting at the fre agency list when he can still clearly be a rotational player specially on a playoff team or a "mentor in the locker room"

Curious timing on this rule proposal, Josh. I remember butting heads with you regarding this rule in the past, when I was trying to sign Thabo Sefalosha. dynasty5ive.proboards.com/post/71926/threadAlso interesting to see Ian's change of heart to support this rule change 3 years later. I have been arguing for this rule change for a long time, so obviously, I still support it. Just interesting to see the timing of the support by the Celtics and Nets. Almost as if they reached the cap this season? Hmmm

But in all seriousness, I have 15 players and legitimately only posted this because I had to turn down 3 offers today due to this rule. I don't know if I've ever taken a stance on this before, but from a PA perspective I'm not sure it makes a ton of sense
