Monte is going to sign with the Denver Nuggets for the following contract:
Year 1: $7,000,000
Year 2: $6,101,690
Year 3: $6,101,690
Year 4: $6,101,690 (Player Option)
Total: $25,305,070
At the end, it was between the Nuggets and the Jazz. Truthfully, both teams had similar pitches. They like Monte, and thought there was a chance he could start for their teams if certain conditions happened (rating changes, development of other players, injuries, that type of thing). Truthfully, the majority of the decision was made because the Nuggets offered more money. However, on a slightly more in-depth look, the Jazz also have a couple of younger guards (Sexton & Culver qualify, I think, plus Tyrell Terry) that offer a bit more competition to Monte starting in the near future vs the Nuggets, who have Dwayne Bacon, Wade Baldwin, and mostly Aaron Nesmith.
So, very slightly better team-fit for the Nuggets, although the Jazz are arguably the more exciting team. Anyway, more money was the bigger factor, as I said originally.
