This trade gets me under the HC so I won't lose Drummond period and gets me a decent pick in this year's draft
Need that CP3 Contract gone he's still great but not for us with the HC issues

The goal from a couple years ago was to compete in this free agent class. I believe this move does this. The Lakers will still have cap space to lore another star, and we still have the 13th pick in this year's draft and RJ Barrett (pending trade) on the roster to trade for other stars. This is the first real step in what we hope is a great offseason for the LA Lakers. I accept As a quick note, Ian Noble, there was some confusion as to whether John Henson could be included in this trade given his player option which he will presumably pick up. We agreed that he could be moved in a separate deal once his P/O is officially picked up. Just let us know what you think is best here. I don't think there's a scenario where Henson would decline his P/O.

Ideally the RJ Barrett trade would be posted (and then processed) after this trade was posted, because now that the RJ Barrett trade has been finalised the Lakers no longer have the cap space, but I'll allow this deal to stand: the cap only just squeaks within 125% +/- $100k on this deal.
It's a big price to pay to get back on friendly terms with the Hard Cap for Sacramento, and I think the Lakers will still have an uphill struggle on their hands if they want to succeed in OSFA this year with really only CP3 as pull, but I accept.

All I will say to this is I've struggled to get any FA's in years past because I was told I needed to have something more concrete than just cap space. I will have around $40 M in cap space and there's been stars traded for less than RJ Barrett, pick 13, Kevin Porter Jr. etc. in this league. At this point, there's not a different strategy that I could take to actually attract FA's than what I've done before.

Kevin Porter Jr. might be lucky to avoid discipline from the Cavs and the League based on two incidents in the offseason— one where he was arrested, the other he wasn’t— at this point www.google.com/amp/s/www.cleveland.com/metro/2020/11/cleveland-cavaliers-kevin-porter-accused-of-punching-woman-in-downtown-cleveland-police-reports-say.html%3foutputType=amp

That news absolutely sucked George Gervin. As a Cavs fan first this sucks. Hopefully this looks better for him as more facts come out, but it's very concerning to say the least. Just pointing out that there are people on this team who could be moved if they continue to develop.
