Me and Charles Barkley have gone back and forth for weeks on who we wanted. The two prospects we thought about most were Ball and Wiseman. Ultimately we didnt love the fit for either prospect based on last night's draft. I was hoping for GS to select a guard. At the end of the day we agreed that we would take RJ number one if he were in this draft. We think his floor is higher than any of the top 3 prospects even though it maybe true that Edwards or Wiseman have a higher ceiling. We want a guy who can contribute on this team for years to come. I accept.

Clippers accept.
While I love RJ, the main question is is how he would compare to Wiseman, Ball or Edwards. I think it is reasonable to argue any side here but the #1 pick this year to truly get a franchise cornerstone and the extra rookie contract year made me pull the trigger.

I'm surprised LAL isn't getting a single other asset for this. Even if you like RJ more than any of the prospects in this draft, he comes with one less year on his rookie contract, which isn't insignificant.

However, RJ will have a slightly smaller number than whoever we would've picked number 1 based on him being taken third. While it doesn't completely offset the extra year of control, that combined with knowing he isn't going to be a washout was enough for me to do this deal.
