Current Rating: 79 Suggested Rating: 81
Very comparable stats wise to Montrezl Harrell who is an 82 in this league. At age 23, Turner is just scratching the surface of what he can do. Was having a bit of an under the radar year with the rise of Sabonis this year, but Turner has been important for that Indiana team.
Thoughts?

Agree on 81, but personally I find Turner is an immensely frustrating player— he’s someone who is supremely talented and yet he has games where he totally disappears still.
At 30 MPG this season he’s at 12 PPG, 6.5 RPG and 2.2 BPG on 45/33/75 splits, compared to his teammate Sabonis (who at one point there were rumblings he was going to be dealt because of the fit with Turner) averaging in 34 MPG 18.5 PPG, 12.5 RPG and 5.0 APG.
Sabonis has always been the more skilled player, but he’s not on Turner’s level of natural talent, which makes Turner’s stats underwhelming when they’re the same age (23)

IMO he should have been an 82, maybe even 83 or higher, last year, when he was leading the league in blocks, shooting 49/39/74.
This season his blocks were down a bit and he shot worse overall from the floor but his 2P% actually increased, he was simply taking ~2 more 3PA per game.
I'll go 81.
From what I've seen he gets bullied by true bigs, and doesn't really fit that well with Sabonis. If he spends an off-season working on his strength and finishing down low, and/or gets traded to a better spot, he could really take off.

But I don't think the comparison to Trezl makes sense. Turner is a bit slower, defensive minded, shooting big man, not very strong on the boards. Trezl is like a rich man's Kenneth Faried - super-energy motor big grabbing O-rebounds and rim running, playing solid defense with a long wingspan but not dominating the defensive paint like Turner can.

I wasn't comparing playing styles. Just looking at numbers and overall impact on the game they have. Putting up similar stats (with Harrell being a bit better) hence the lower rating than him. I should have made that more clear. They are very different players in terms of how they go about getting their numbers lol.

I admittedly don't watch many Pacers games, but looking at stats hasn't Turner declined in pretty much every aspect in 2019/20?
11.8 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.2 bpg in 29.6 mpg 45.1 / 33.6 / 75.0 shooting
-0.9 OBPM +1.1 DBPM 108 ORTG / 105 DRTG
Offense is 4 points worse when he is on the floor, defense is 2.3 points better (-1.7 points worse overall when he plays)
Yea he is #4 in blocks per game, but even those are down from last year. A rating in the 80s for someone averaging 12/6 in 30 minutes to me seems like he would have to be dominant defensively, and I just don't think Turner really has that sort of impact.

I think this perfectly sums up where I'm coming from. I think his numbers need to be contexualized.
