Derrick Rose will sign with the Nets to the following deal:
Year 1: 4,000,000
Derrick Rose had 6 offers however at the end of the day, the two teams he was considering were the Nuggets and Nets. These two teams are both top 5 teams in the league this year. At the end of the day the Nets offered more money than the Nuggets which made the decision easier. With Josh clearing cap space, Rose will now accept the 1 year deal. We also appreciate that Josh told us from that start, he was working on a deal to clear cap space to make this happen. Without clear communication from the GM, we would of not waited this long to sign a deal.

Rose may end up being one of the biggest free agents this off-season. Getting cut by Phoenix, joining the Nets while Kyrie is injured, giving him a starting roll on a playoff team. This is a blessing for him, I imagine. Lead the Nets far into the playoffs and cash out this summer, when there may be fewer top-tier free agents than previously thought, all the while still getting paid by Phoenix for one more year.

It would be a mistake for any team to give Rose big money long term. He’s still a 31 yr old PG with an injury list a mile long who hamstrung two cap sheets in D5

🤷🏻♂️ He may end up being one of the best free agents if players start opting in, which I suspect will happen. He should be able to pull in 9-12 mil over 3 years, I'd imagine.

If you look at advanced projection engines like CARMELO, most project Rose to have a five year value of $15 MM total, let alone $13-15 MM a year. He’d be a massive overpay at those numbers

He’d be a massive overpay at those numbers I'd give Rose my full MLE if I had it. He's been absolutely balling for a while now. 2-3 years, $9M per for Derrick Rose off my bench? I'd take that chance, I think he's earned it.
