Is this anything more than a blatant tanking attempt? Haven't we rejected trades like this in the past?

We've not rejected trades based on team direction. I have rejected sim changes when a team's only 80+ player is benched for tanking purposes though.

This is kinda dumb, so the Hornets get a 78 rated player on an expiring contract for free? I understand the Heat want to tank now but how is this a fair trade at all?

Why not just cut the players? Why are you helping Charlotte and San Antonio? It's not fair to the rest of us. We shouldn't allow one GM to enrich another GM with no reason/purpose. It's basically collusion.

Cha is a division rival while Spurs is the only one with expiring contract that can get Marc Gasol.

Miami's intent was clear. So, I think there is nothing fishy about it.

We're going to have to go back and look at timing. Not all of the trades put Miami over the hard cap. He was under before he started wheeling and dealing I'm pretty sure.

Prior to the Spurs-Heat trade:Miami salaries at: 165,746,904 Trade increases MIA salary. Already over the cap, can't increase salary. INVALID. Prior to the Detroit-Miami trade:Miami salaries at: 161,348,649 Trade brings it up to 165,746,904. Trade exceeds hard cap. INVALIDPrior to the Portland-Milwaukee-Miami trade:Miami salaries at: 157,931,671 Trade brings it up to 161,348,649 Trade does NOT exceed hard cap. VALID.Sorry for confusion before, I just assumed the first one was also in violation because they were posted in a flurry of activity. But the POR-MIL-MIA trade was posted an hour before the DET-MIA trade, so that one should go through.

Agreed with James Kay here. Portland trade should be good.
If Detroit-Miami remove Joakim Noah for Timofey Mozgov, that trade would also be good. Same exact thing, just different contract. If they agree to switch the dead money contract their trade is valid.
But the Charlotte and Spurs trades would have to be nullified.

Aim should be to adhere to the rules with as little disruption or full-on repeal as possible.
