The Nets approached TJ very early in free agency offering a single year max contract. Ideally TJ would prefer a longer term contract with more financial security, and so we didn't jump at the offer. We waited to see what other interest there was, and found there wasn't much. Only one other good offer was made and nothing came from his former team, the Rockets. Since the Nets are themselves are very good team with a clear need for a quality SF, TJ is happy to make this move. He hopes to prove his value this season and then earn a longer term deal next summer.
