The Suns have pieces on their team and are absolute dumpster fire. Whereas Luka leads Dallas in minutes and points and they are looking like a playoff team. If Ayton is actually that good then we have to talk about maybe taking Booker and Warren down a bit because clearly they aren't as good as we say. You know, I don't think Devin Booker is that good. He's a volume scorer that isn't very efficient and is one of the worst defensive players in the NBA. He fails to measure up in advanced stats too. His career high WS/48 was last year at 0.063, which is noticeably below average. His PER, BPM, RPM, VORP, everything, it's all average or below average. He shows all the signs of being your classic empty stats player that doesn't actually help your team win. Throw him in with Rudy Gay, Andrew Wiggins, late career Carmelo, etc. Compare that to Ayton's WS/48 of 0.141, his PER of 20.6, his BPM of +1.4, all of which are higher than Booker's career highs, and yeah I think you're on to something. Despite being part of the dumpster fire, Ayton still has a net positive impact while being on the floor. Booker does not, despite having nice looking stats.

Hey I'm actually pleasantly surprised by Ayton's performance. I faded him pretty hard so it's nice to be wrong. I don't blame him for the problems of the Suns. Clearly they drafted like 2 absolute duds in Jackson and Bender kinda lame for them. I just think based on what we've seen is Luka JJJ Ayton and that's where the separation is for this draft. And I think it's a 1a 1b for Luka and JJJ and 2 for Ayton.

And I think it's a 1a 1b for Luka and JJJ and 2 for Ayton. The Suns made two crucial mistakes in the last couple of years draft wise: they haven’t solved their PG problem and passed on Fox for Jackson, and they took Bender/Chriss who cannabilized each other’s development by being stuck in the same position at PF when they could’ve had Hield/Murray with the pick at #4 instead of Bender, and trade wise could’ve targeted Sabonis at #8 instead of Chriss to get a center. It doesn’t help, compounded with their draft history, that they have one of the most inept owners in the League. On Ayton, I will admit I was down on him too, as I thought he’d be a great offensive player but as center he seemed way behind in his understanding of defense/he made a number of comments that make you question his makeup. He seemed more interested in the lifestyle and the money than wanting to destroy people like Embiid or Giannis, and if you are hoping for a franchise anchor he better have the right mentality

Luka with a 21/10/9 game tonight in a win over the Pels— couple times this year he’s knocked on the triple double door, but this was the closest yet. His court vision on some of these passes is really impressive

Those pocket passes to DJ were ridiculous

Luka with 34 pts on 10-16 from the field, nearly besting AD and the Pels for the second time in two nights. He even added in a Kobe death stare when DSJ dribbled out the clock and missed the game tying shot...

Shoutout on two guys:
Nurkic had a 5x5 line last night of 24 pts, 23 boards, 7 assists, 5 blocks, and 5 steals, which is a statistical rarity even in today’s age
James Harden in his last 10 games is averaging 41 ppg (14 attempts from 3 and hitting 41%), to go with 7 rebounds and 9 assists per game and has willed the Rockets back into the stacked top 4 of the West

It still doesn't feel real that Nurkic statline, even if it was AD it would be an unreal statline for him.

Luka with a 30/6/5/3 game against the Suns last night on 14 shots— really efficient performance for him, and putting an exclamation mark on his early RoY case as Ayton picked a bad time for a dud game (6pts, 5 boards on 1-7 shooting)..

How's this for a big up. Quite a few players on Denver aren't doing as well this season as last. For example Gary Harris is down to like 49% eFG, Will Barton has been dead.
But they are STILL the top team in the west or at least every other game they are.

I’d add Sabonis to that trio— he’s certainly the most efficient player from that class, and one of the most skilled

Couple of big stat lines of note from last few nights:
- Westbrook with a 24/24/13 game (not a typo) in double OT loss to the Spurs. He had 21/24 assists during regular time, so it wasn’t just OT stat padding - Harden with a 43/10/10 game against Cavs in just 30 mins of action... - John Collins with a 25/9 game as well as winning fade-away vs Sixers; of all the Hawks young guys, he, not Trae Young, at the moment looks like the best chance at a future star with this Chris Bosh type run he’s had the last six weeks (averaging close to 24 and 12 during that stretch) - LMA with 56 pts in that double OT win over the Thunder - Luka with a 29/12/8/2 line with ZERO turnovers in a close win over the Twolves; 9/29 pts came in the final two mins to close out the game
