This offseason, Robert received offers from 6 teams, with offers ranging from the MLE with full raises (about a 10MM per year average) to around 13.5MM a season average. All offers, that is, except one. One team offered Robert a starting promise for the duration of his contract. One team offered Robert much more money than any other team was willing to offer. One team made a great case for the team they are building with Robert as a key cog in their starting lineup. One team believes in Robert. Robert Covington will sign the following deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers: Year 1: $21,378,491 Year 2: $22,981,878 Year 3: $24,585,265 Year 4: $26,188,652 Total: $95,134,286 The opportunity to start for a playoff-level team who believes in him so thoroughly, and proved it with the money offered, was simply too much to pass up.
