Jayson Tatum Current: 80 Proposed: 85
Jaylen Brown Current: 78 Proposed: 85
I'm posting threads for both Jayson and Jaylen because they've both been integral to the Celtics, who are now one win away from the Finals, every other team in the Conference Finals has multiple 86+ rated players whereas the Celtics highest rated is Al Horford (85). Both Jaylen and Jayson have the two highest Usage Rates on the Celtics during their excellent Playoff run, they are the two main go-to-guys (third highest usage is Rozer, 3.0%USG behind), and both of them would be starting even if Hayward and Kyrie were healthy.
Tatum / Brown Playoffs 18.4ppg (highest Celtic) / Scoring / 17.8ppg (2nd highest Celtic) 4.3rpg / Rebounding / 4.9rpg 2.9apg / Assists / 1.9apg 32.3% (but was 43.4% reg.season) / 3PT% / 41.1% (40% reg.season) 23.4% (2nd highest) / Usage / 24.4% (highest Celtic)
I think either way these guys need some love. Brad Stevens being a coaching genius kinda detracts from the fact these two guys are projected All Star careers. Also Tatum is doing it as a rookie to the extent that he's getting mentioned with Mitchell and Simmons now, and Jaylen is putting up those numbers despite being minutes-restricted for 5 games with injury (20.7ppg when healthy).

Just to be clear - rating increases/decreases aren't done until the playoffs are over, right?? Also, I think the reasoning is kind of bonkers when comparing them to the other players in the conference finals (except Love, don't get me started). I do think they are good though.
Tatum = 82
Brown = 81

Just to be clear - rating increases/decreases aren't done until the playoffs are over, right?? There's never been a rule about it, but if Walt gets the ratings done during the Playoffs I could just hold off implementing them until after the Playoffs.

Also - apologies for not making separate threads. I started to make separate threads for Tatum and Brown but all the stuff I was writing was almost exactly the same for both players, so I combined.

Also with Kevin, ratings changes should not be done while playoffs are going on.

80 for both. Looking at their ratings it seems pretty fair, but increasing Brown by one is doable

80 for Jayson Tatum - I'm super optimistic for him, but I'm not all about the playoff hype. No change yet.
81 for Jaylen Brown - A little more polished and better defense.

83 for Tatum..
84 for Brown...
Sample size for playoffs is small, but they have played three teams already for multiple games..And take note, the preparation, grit, focus and etc. are way higher in the playoffs.

I'll buy into the playoff hype. I did for Mitchell so I want to be consistent. I've been more impressed with Tatum than Brown though, so I'll go:
Tatum - 83 Brown - 82
With that being said, I don't think there should be changes during OUR playoffs

lol, now that BOS isn’t tanking, competitive Ian is a little annoying! Mostly it's because I'm down 3-0 to you and my team should be giving you a hard time - but they're really not!

I would say Tatum offensively should be rated higher, but overall Brown has shown better and longer body of work on both ends of the floor.
Tatum - 82 Brown - 83

For me the main issue is that as good as both these players are, their numbers were inflated by the opportunity created by both Hayward and Kyrie being out. Assuming these players are back healthy next year, both Tatum and Brown will likely regress slightly stats wise while steadily improving skills wise.
With that said I would go:
Tatum - 82 Brown - 80

That's a little bit to high in my opinion, 85 would be just fine for him. His regular season wasn't worth an 87, not even close.
