Current Rating: 84 Suggested Rating: 80
I honestly feel like 80 might be a bit generous. This guy was simply passed up by a rapidly evolving NBA. He is too slow and immobile to even get playing time late in the game and in the playoffs. He struggles to get involved on offense unless he is getting lobs. He has been benched for Kelly Olynyk and Bam Adebayo, neither of whom are particularly good themselves.
His defense is still good, even elite perhaps, but the fact that he can't really get on the court for more than 15 minutes in the playoffs or that he was benched for Bam Adebayo in the fourth quarter all season really tells you something.

There is none he has fell out of favor with spolestra and the heat, and he dont want to be there. When he plays his numbers and his dominance are still there!

Well these generally aren't the playoff numbers of a guy rated 80 or above.

No kidding those arent great numbers but if youve been following basketball at all this year, you would know that he wants more minutes spolestra is playing him less and there is a rift their. It happens with disgruntled players and coaches. This is not a ratings problem. Also if youve watched any 76ers game lately you would see that ersan has been starting a the 5 so playing whiteside on him doesnt make sense, kelly o makes more sense thats a match up thing. As for last night hes just in spolestras dog house bc kelly o, and bam didnt do much of anything either. The heat use their centers for screens and pick and pops, none of those fit whiteside he needs to be a down low force at the center position. Like on a team like the bucks he would maximize his usage, and play to his strengths so he would be dominant again! Using a 3 game playoff series, or to stock watch someone terribly on a team or coach problem is not smart. Take bledsoe last year for example, playing great ball but the suns were tanking and he wanted no part of it so they benched him would you stock watch him terribly bc of it? You shouldnt bc it has nothing to do with his skill set. Or greg monroe is another player, doesnt get the playing time he should but when he does, he does fine. Got himself a triple double and was playing great at the end of this year but thats skill set and playing time not a oh his numbers are down or up depending on team circumstance not a sim stock watch thing.

I've always thought Whiteside has been overrated. He's nowhere close to the player Gobert is. Using playoff numbers are unfair, but the playoffs are when supreme talent usually rises to the top.

WHITESIDE DONT DESERVE TO BE STOCK WATCHED! He isn't good anymore. Gobert looks much better than whiteside. It's really not close. You'll notice gobert will possibly be all NBA and win Dpoy. This is because stats don't always tell the full story.

Im not saying gobert aint better, he is but whiteside ain't as bad as you guys are making him out to be! He's on a team that neither he or the heat want him on. What's the criteria for stock watch bc one of you asked for stats, i provided them! Now jared says stats dont tell the whole story so are you guys stock watching by the eye test as well lol. He's a 84 plain and simple and make a clear definition of what you want from a stock watch bc last time i checked a sim is not run on eye test! Im not even the jazz gm, elton brand needs to defend his boy!!

Using playoff numbers are unfair, but the playoffs are when supreme talent usually rises to the top. Yep exactly, just ask Jerome James. Playoff basketball is an entirely different beast. Needs to be viewed through a very careful lense imo.

But sticking an entire point on Jerome James is insane and you know it. My point is Whiteside is overrated and he's been awful in the playoffs so far. Acting like he's remotely around the same level as Gobert is ridiculous.

Acting like he's remotely around the same level as Gobert is ridiculous. I'm not even really talking about comparing the two players. I'm saying basing anything on playoffs in general is pretty tricky and especially if you are trying to override a full season of statistics with 2, 3, or 4 games is actually very close to insane.

I have been firm from the get go, I rate players PRIMARILY with their skills, not their performance.
The modern way of basketball did not eat up the post skills and inside attributes of Whiteside. They are not just being used, does the production has been low.
84.

Sometimes...I think we should close the Stock Watch entirely during the playoffs. Honestly playoffs is a lot of people's first time getting extended looks at certain players. Particularly on teams people don't get to see because they waste valuable airtime on the shit Lakers and Knicks despite them both sucking the past 6 and since the 90's respectively. People do need to chill it a bit though.
