Current:89 Suggested:89
We need to rework his stats, he only has 10 3 point rating wherein in real life he is shooting more than 5 attempts per game
Also that 99 dunk is too high

87.5 amazing passer and good finisher still with much improved 3 point shooting. But his efficiency has taken a hit, defense isn't great and he's just not the same high athleticism player he used to be.

Not a good season for Blake... not sure if injuries finally caught up to him or what. Lots of career lows. Hasn’t made an ASG since 2015. Career low FG%, Reb%, Stl%, Blk%, Win Shares %, PER. However, his assists are up and he has a good assist to turnover ratio.
Will go 87 for now as a conservative decrease but think he could be lowered again in the future.

DEFINITELY needs reworked. I'm not sure whether he should go up or down tbh, I'd like to look at it here. He has many areas that are too high, many that are too low (3pt is WWAAAAAAAYY too low of course). He was last changed in September 2014!!! Let's see where I think he "should" be to line up with all our other changes/ratings.
Increases 3PT: 10 > ~75 = +65 FT: 64 > 79 = +15 Pass: 55 > 70 = +15 Handle: 60 > 65 = +5 (Especially in Detroit, has decreased TO's. Could make an argument for closer to 70 or higher in pass too)
Decreases Dunk: 99 > 60ish = -39 OReb: 80 > 50-60ish = -20-30 DReb: 87 > 77 ish = -10 Steal: 55 > 45ish = -10 Block: 43 > 23 = -20 Jump: 90 > 80ish? = -10 Strength: 90 > 85ish? = -5 Injury: 80 > 70 = -10 (all Injury are 70, this is an old change so it wasn't the same rule then for us).
About right O-Aware: 88 (I think there's a good argument to be made that this should be higher, into the low 90's. But I don't want to be seen as biased...) FG: 67 Inside: 85 (This one could maybe be argued down about 5 so it probably balances out one way or the other here) D-Aware: 62 (could go up or down a few points, maybe, not enough to make a huge difference) Speed/Quick: both 70, about right...this is probably the first of these categories I'd pull from a couple points if needed after doing the other changes. Stamina: 90 (could be anywhere between 85 & 90)
(Just Need Updated) Range is at 19, needs to be 25 to be in line with other changes. 3PT% is at 3% of shots taken, but he should be around 32% of shots taken from 3. Style is 4...Barber's research would say he should be maybe a 9. Or, argument could be made for a 10 or even a 7, maybe.
So, I've got a total increase/decrease of.... -24 (Note, a month ago his dunk would have only come down to around an 85-90 and we'd be at zero change.)
But, things are developing. So, I can see him down to anywhere between an 87 and an 88. Also of note - when I have bumped up big-men's 3pt ratings a lot, it bumps up their OVR more than it should.
I'll vote 88 b/c he's my guy and b/c of the 3pt bump seeming to have more weight than usual. AND, the O-Aware thing I mentioned, plus Pass/Handle notes. 88 would capture him about perfectly in our system.

87.5 amazing passer and good finisher still with much improved 3 point shooting. But his efficiency has taken a hit, defense isn't great and he's just not the same high athleticism player he used to be. Just to state for the record, he's taking ~5.5 3's per game out of his ~17 shots per game. Of course his FG% is going to drop considerably. Previous high was just under 2 3pt a game out of his 16 shots. And, for most of his career before last year, he took half a 3 out of his 16-17 shots a game. His FT% is at career highs, while developing a 3pt shot that's very consistent at 34.5% or so. I think his mid-range game is pretty meh though, he should stop shooting from there as much as he is. Just want that 3pt shot pointed out.

I really thought Griffin was going to explode with Chris Paul out of his way. Biggest letdown of the season imo. Rating him as just a ranking against other players is tough because he does have a lot of non-position skills such as handle, passing. He does lack a position skill in blocks though which is weird considering he was so athletic.
Since they play the same position and have similar weaknesses plus I just rated him, Kelly Olynyk has better advanced defensive stats than Blake Griffin. Part of that is because I believe Stevens and Spoelstra are better coaches than Doc Rivers but results are results.
Additionally, why is someone shooting 34% from 3 doing that 6 times a game? That's less than league average. If I was his coach I'd bench him for it. You wanna give him freedom but 6. Come on. If he took better shots he could probably have the same effect with 4 shots.
I'm gonna say 88. He doesn't need a total nerf, he is an important, athletic player who does a lot of things. However if he comes out of the gate next year and isn't shit he could be in the 84 are before next allstar break.
