Pelicans trade: 69 Tyus Jones $1,164,500 $2,036,711 (TO) $2,977,671 69 Alan Williams $4,500,000 $4,500,000 $4,500,000 $4,500,000 70 Jawun Evans $1,170,500 $1,389,300 $1,623,400 (TO) $2,930,237 (TO) UTAH 2018 2nd TOR 2018 1st
Jazz trade: UTAH 2021 1st
I accept. I love Tyus and think he will be a very productive player in the NBA for many years. However I also think Fred VanVleet has similar potential so I'm willing to roll the dice here on what could potentially be a lottery pick. I don't mind giving up the 2nd as I still have 3 others. It hurts to lose the Toronto pick but that's the cost of doing business. Evans and Williams are cap casualties for me.

I'll cut Diamond Stone, Jarnell Stokes, and Tarik Black and accept this deal.

This is rejectable IMO. We are going to let one of the worst teams in the league trade their own 1st rounder for Tyus Jones? The guy is never going to be an NBA starter, he is too tiny. He’s not even particularly talented.
The Jazz have no end to tanking in sight. The roster has very few promising players. This pick is almost guaranteed top 10. Is Billy quitting the league or something? Wtf are these two trades?

BK what's going on? With the prospect of losing Whiteside you were relinquishing The Tank, but now you're trading Whiteside for peanuts, I'm assuming to go back to tanking, but then you're also trading away a pick that will help you tank?!

Yeah I was going to "relinquish the tank" til the commisioner pmed me and said Whiteside wasn't gonna re-sign.

Ok, well, since Billy seems serious about the trade.....
As has been voiced in this thread by at least one other, I think this is a bad trade for the Utah Jazz. The players he gains show minimal upside to be worthy of what could be, realistically, a pick as high as the number one pick without too much imagination used. That is a worst-case for the Jazz, however, I think at this point and with this trade, it's super easy to see the Jazz as at least a lottery team if not a high lottery pick team.
Reject.

FWIW -I don't believe that it's a foregone conclusion that Whiteside leaves. Billy can give him a ton of money and has been as dedicated or more dedicated to him than any other GM has been to any other player arguably. With Whiteside in tow, the Jazz have pieces that make it realistic enough that he stays. It's also not a foregone conclusion that he stays, but I think this is an overreaction to what was probably a trade offer from the commissioner in his duty as a GM of the Celtics, and not in his duty as the commissioner of the league, as that is not something we do to any team in the league.
We don't and have never made Advanced Communications as player agents with general managers. All of that starts in the offseason.

So MKG is worth a spurs 1st in 2021 when literally none of his current players will be any good and he will be completely capped out but a 1st round pick, top 10 2nd round pick, a starting PG who is just 21 (he is already much better than Jeff Teague and will start by the end of the year) isn't?
I don't follow the logic here. Tyus is already worth more than mkg (who is not good and on a negative value contract) by himself and Billy gets 2 other picks.
Also I doubt this pick will be very high, the jazz have Tatum, RHJ, fultz and ridiculous amounts of cap space. Plus they will have top 10 picks each of the nett 2/3 years. They are in an infinatly better place than the spurs.

This trade getting rejected is absolutely bully. It's pretty hard to be worse than 6-7th as a pick if you're not trying to.
Tyus is legit yo.

Ian did walk back his statement after a few PMs, but it was really disheartening to see, and theres no way in hell I'm going to be going into this offseason trying to re-sign someone that I get argued to in every thread that he's not coming back after hearing the same thing from the guy that oversees FA.

Your entire post is #fakenews. Also, calling MKG's contract negative value or saying Tyus Jones is worth more than MKG is a silly. I know you're gonna try to argue it, but it is absolutely silly. Anyone who has seen Tyus play has clearly seen that he can never be a good player in the league. Undersized players have a really tough time surviving in the NBA and it is very rare that an undersized point guard ever becomes a starter. At least MKG is defensive stopper, good rebounder, and not-so-much a liability on offense as he used to be. He has a clear starting role in the league and is only 24.

If my reasoning is actually needed to get this trade accepted here it is:
I think this trade in 2021 will look something like this:
A 25 year old Jrue Holiday (Tyus Jones) A nice 2nd rounder (Alan + Juwans) A nice 2nd rounder (Utah 2018 2nd) A late 1st (TOR 2018 1st)
for
Pick ~(7-14)
Which frankly is only 50% likely to pull a good player anyway. So...
Seems like a far-fetched reject to me. If you're itching to reject a trade there's plenty of fish in the sea...

I actually like the trade for Billy.. That is basically three years away.. The chance that he can get a starting caliber player in the next two drafts is way higher than his 2021 pick, ending up in the lottery. And you even add the possibility of getting a good pick with his 2018 2nd and that TOR pick.
His draft resume is quite awful. But, he has been diligent. If he sustained his efforts, mathematically, he should be getting a good pick soon.
We should let Billy play out his "style" of trading quality for quantity.

Tyus Jones is 6 foot 2. That's taller than Kemba Walker, Lou Williams, Chris Paul, Kyle Lowry, Tony Parker, Eric Bledsoe among many others. This makes it obvious you have never watched Tyus Jones play and have no clue what you're talking about in regards to him.

I'm much better at finding guys later on than I am at trying to pick between the surefire guys at the top. I usually swing for the home run at the top. Tatum is working out alright. I don't think picking Fultz was a "mistake" either, it was literally impossible to see an injury like this coming. If it makes you feel better, you can look at my big boards etc, Fultz was not my top ranked player. I liked JJ and DSJ *shrugs*. I was scurred though to go against what I considered to be NBA expert consensus. *smdh*

Just to remind you, I think your worst was the #18 pick in the 2015 draft (Justin Anderson). The two players after him ws Booker and Portis Booker was free-falling at that time.

Taking the opinions of others, including NBA GMs into account isn't a weakness. It's not like I thought Fultz was going to be terrible. I liked all of them, but the ceilings of DSJ and JJ are the type of ceilings I chase with my draft picks usually. I decided to go with the "safe" pick because I wanted to re-sign Whiteside. And then something that's never happened in NBA history happened. :/

It was you in a friendly way stating what you thought was an obvious fact, that Whiteside was gonna leave, and just letting me know so I wouldn't lose him for nothing. However, it was the only reason I started negotations for him, because I felt like he was coming back until it came from you. There's nothing you can really do about that, it sucks you have to wear "two hats", and I'm not accusing of any foul play. I'm just explaining my "sudden turn of events" thinking. It was your pm.

He has always looked like a child on the court to me so never bothered to look up his real height. Maybe its the babyface.

So what going on with this trade now the Billy has left? 2 accepts 1 reject (not counting Ians "I can accept" as an accept). Is this going to be tabled until a new owner is installed or will the vote continue?
