Look, I'm not saying James Kay isn't worthy of the award, I think there are better candidates for this year. I just think that his move to bring in Paul George shouldn't be taken into account for this year's award. It had no effect on this past year.
I don't believe this off-season should count for this year's EOTY, it should count for next year's EOTY because it will affect next season... Obviously George will have a great impact on his team but hypothetically he might not. He could get injured and miss half the half of the season dropping the Hornets to 5-6 seed in the playoffs making him worse from this past season. Bad example but I hope you get my point. EOTY considerations should end when the champion is crowned and should not be named long after.
Repeating myself, but this off-season had nothing to do with the past season/year, so why is it considered for EOTY?

I can agree that this recent offseason shouldn't matter. But it did this year. Maybe it won't for next years award.

So this seasons offseason will matter for the award next season but next offseason won't matter. If that makes sense.

This whole argument is stupid. I'm obviously the Executive of the Year, just like I am every year. Ian Noble just can't give it to me continuously, so he has to put it in other people's names. You're all arguing about who gets to be my placeholder. Seriously though, even in an offseason where we escaped without a major scandal and only a few ruffled feathers, we still need something to argue about. We're all just bored more than anything imo. If you all do want to argue, we can talk politics again... That's a well that will never run dry.

Also I quit the trade committee quite some time ago Slipped my mind. Also I'm not posting the PA discussions (although you are obviously free to do so), because I wasn't accusing you of blatant misconduct, simply saying that you obviously have something against me if I have a "god complex" for trying to sign Thabo. What I find interesting is that you seem to be quite focused on how "his main accolades are based on PA decisions" (which I hold to be egregiously false, but whatever). Your own post was fairly influential in why I go so hard in Free Agency: Zero Sum Basketball. Although I argued in that thread that FA is closer to being a zero-sum transaction than you claimed because cap space is an asset, but then also noted that this league is full of tanking teams with ton of cap space devaluing that asset. So really, if you're a smart GM, you want to try and build a team that can best take on FAs. Also, your post was just super mean-spirited. Who does that? Someone wins an award and you spend who knows how long going through cherry-picked moves to call me a bad GM? Why not point out great things other GMs have done instead of trying to build a case against me?

I will claim the unofficial title of "People's EOTY" though See if Ian will fix you a badge for the "People's EOTY." Doesn't seem like the type of award you give yourself, though.

While that's true and fair, I've had multiple random discussions where people have mentioned me as a good candidate for this, but apparently I was about 12th on Ian's list Sure hope no one else bothers improving their team from a "barely playoff" team to the #2 seed and thinks they did a good job accomplishing that. I should go back to tanking so Ian recognizes my achievements. Actually, I never tanked in this league, so nvm.

I was equally surprised by the lack of TWolves.

I am surprised this many people care about a fictional award that has no impact on their team at all. I honestly could care less who wins these type of things because it doesn't matter. If I had to pick, it would probably be Walt just because of what he has done with his team and how he has drafted.

Because they are awesome. I remember my first ever fantasy league back in 1994 when I started high school. We had a fantasy draft and I got #1 pick and I picked David Robinson instead of Michael Jordan because The Admiral just came off his 71 point game

I care about these fake awards because its recognition for the effort put into your team. I care about my fake team, it's fun.
And I want to make it clear that I'm not trying to poop on James Kay, I just think it should have been handed out to someone else this year, which would mean James would be the leading candidate for next year's award.

I don't even understand this comment, so I will move on. I care and like d5 and fantasy leagues, but I don't get butt hurt over an award that does not directly impact my team. Now, if a free agent signs with James Kay because he won eoty, that is a different story.
