Walt Frazier , consider this an official correspondence between the Detroit Pistons and your client, Jonas Valanciunas. I am sure you are ready for some more controversy after the recent Durant Decision!
This trade obviously assumes that Jonas Valanciunas signs with the Detroit Pistons. If he does not, then the trade should be considered void by all parties involved in the process.
Let me just explain how I came up with this idea: I am sitting here watching everyone talk about Durant, George, Capela, and all the other big name FAs. While I possess MLE via being over the cap, very few of the players in that range do me much good because of their older age and higher ratings. For the longest time, I only offered on Jerian Grant and have yet to hear back from him lol! Anyways, I finally decided I better offer on someone before I lose it at the end of the off-season.
Valanciunas is only 25 and I do like him a lot as a player, but I figured someone would offer him a huge contract especially considering the money Jokic received from the Grizzles. I even asked Walt if it was a waste of time to make an offer, but he advised me to go ahead and do it. Walt comes back and tells me someone offered more money and that I am below a few teams on the totem poll. I realize I need to sign Valanciunas if I can, so I tried to offer him a No Trade Clause, guaranteed to trade him if he asked to be traded, to make him the face of the franchise, a starting spot, and anything else I could think of to entice him to Detroit. Obviously, he probably would go somewhere else on MLE considering the poor state of my franchise; Heck, he would actually be the 3rd highest paid center on my team if he signed with us!
During this time of promising, I started thinking what could Valanciunas really want? The only thing I could up with is a ticket back to San Antonio, but it is only a guess in all honesty. Walt told me I could not "collude" with JR and promise to trade him to the Spurs, but there is NO rule against posting a trade with a FA involved in it other than it cannot be processed until December 15th of the next season (in the game.)
Therefore, Mr. Valanciunas, I am offering you a viable path back to San Antonio if you so desire to go back. If not, take your money and go somewhere else; Walt has not promised me anything in the slightest and you are free to do as you please. I am hope and pray that JR can make a pitch to Valanciunas in order to convince him to go back to San Antonio as I would love the Spurs 2021 1st, but I think this is the best way to use my MLE.
Besides, I might get a rule named after me if nothing else!
