James Johnson has decided to sign with the Golden State Warriors for the full MLE with max increases. Despite a few messages conveying slight interest, James actually did not receive one other firm offer over the past 10 days. Chris Mullin, however, came in strong from the beginning and offers a great situation for James. The Warriors plan to utilize James' versatility to play multiple positions, and to be the main option off the bench. Chris showed a vast knowledge of James' skillset in his offer, and showed commitment with multiple messages over the FA period.
We acknowledge that we likely could have obtained a larger contract later in FA and that Johnson was paid more in real-life, but again, I reiterate that we did not receive one other firm offer over the past 10 days. Golden State was extremely committed to Johnson and offers an amazing situation and a chance to win a title. The contract is the full MLE with increases of the minimum salary rather than 7.5% of first year, as the minimum is larger.
Year 1: $8,406,000 Year 2: $9,221,615 Year 3: $10,037,230 Year 4: $10,852,845 Player Option
Welcome to Golden State James!! James has found a home in Miami (IRL) where he has transformed his body and gotten into the best shape of his career last season which led to him getting consistent playing time. He was one of the best 1-on-1 defenders in the league last year and can play/guard multiple positions. His ability to create against bigger/slower defenders will be a great weapon for us as well as his ability to hit open 3's now.
Thank you to Josh Barber for doing a great job of communicating honestly and in a timely manner with me throughout this entire process.

Kevin Hollis: I would like to file a grievance against Jay-Z, Atlanta Hawks GM. He is clearly a racist. Seven white players on his team. Rumor has it he is trading for Gordon Heyward, Goran Dragic, and JJ Reddick this season to round out his starting rotation.
