2012 2nd Round Pick (Philadelphia)
Total Salary In: $3,350,000
76ers Receive
Mario Chalmers (79) - $4,000,000 / $4,000,000 / $4,000,000
2012 2nd Round Pick (Brooklyn)
2014 2nd Round Pick (Dallas)
Total Salary In: $4,000,000
Mavericks accept. Chalmers is a solid player and while he's my highest rated PG, is probably really only my 2nd best PG. We reduce the PG logjam by flipping him for Parsons, who has shown himself to be more than capable on the defensive end of the floor, even getting Kobe's attention.
He's a solid finisher, decent shooter but has minor tendencies (particularly in his shooting form) that affect his efficiency that I feel can be ironed out considering that he's just a rookie. that being said, while some may say that he's already hit his ceiling, I think his offensive game still has room to grow and he's only going to get better on the defensive end as he gains experience.
Jason Smith took advantage of a shallow New Orleans frontcourt and had his numbers scale with his minutes. I don't expect him to get any better and may actually ride the bench again with Davis coming in, but he's at least proved he's worth the 2.5m price tag.
Works under the 125% Rule, of course pending PHI-HOU trade that has 3 accepts atm.
Mavericks Projected Starting Five
C - Amir Johnson
PF - Dirk Nowitzki
SF - Stephen Jackson
SG - Marshon Brooks
PG - Jerryd Bayless
Mavericks Release Josh Powell to facilitate completion of this deal.
