dynasty5ive.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=acceptedtrades&action=display&thread=180This is one of the trades I dislike most so far.
77 Charlie Villanueva $7,540,000-$8,060,000-$8,580,000 (PO)
for
82 O.J. Mayo $5,632,637-$7,390,019
The rest is pretty much equal.
The reason why I dislike it so much is because there is not even one possible way to look at it in which Grizzlies win. In BOS/UTA trade for example, Jazz at least had the "win now" excuse. In this trade there is absolutely nothing.
a) Mayo is 5 ratings points better than Villanueva.
b) Mayo is 3 years and months younger than Villanueva.
c) Mayo has a much better contract than Villanueva. Mayo's contract costs much less and Villanueva has an expensive PO in the 3rd year which makes his contract pretty bad.
d) Mayo's stats went down over the past 2 seasons but that's mostly because his minutes went down. This off-season in real life he will be a restricted FA so he might be able to find more minutes and a better role in Memphis or somewhere else.
e) Villanueva has been injured all season long in real life. He only played 13 games...
f) Grizzlies had Boozer and Gay at the forward positions when the trade was made which means Grizzlies didn't need Villanueva. In fact, Grizzlies needed Villanueva less than he needed Mayo in terms of position ratings.
