C - Joel Embiid
Player Statistics:
Drafted: 2014 1st round (3rd pick) by the Boston Celtics (2014 Draft)
2014/15 - Picked up with one of the draft picks acquired from the trading of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce from Boston back in 2012, Embiid sat out the 2014/15 season due to a stress fracture in his foot picked up days before the draft.
2015/16 - Injury woes continued for Embiid in what would have been his second year in the league, the Celtics were forced to play the waiting the game for yet another season as Embiid rehabilitated the stress fracture in his foot after a second operation. All eyes will be on him as he hopefully debuts for the Sixers in real life next season!
2016/17 - After two years of waiting Embiid was immense in his first game as a Celtic scoring 29 points, grabbing 17 boards and 4 blocks despite still only being rated 78! Early in his rookie season Embiid saw an increase to an 81 overall as he brought hope to both his real-life Sixers and D5 Celtics after many years of rebuilding, establishing himself as a true franchise changing prospect. It wasn't long however until the injury bug bit once again and Joel was ruled out for the remainder of the season by the Sixers in real life, ending his rookie campaign at 39 games for Boston where hope still lives for Embiid.
2017/18 - After Trusting The Process for so many years, turning down many trade offers, Embiid truly arrived in his second season, most noticeably in an early 15th November game against the Lakers in-real-life posting 46pts, 15reb, 7ast, 7blk! Selected as an All Star Starter for the first time in real-life, Embiid received another ratings boost from 81 to 87 within the first month of play establishing himself as the franchise cornerstone he always had the potential to be! On January 28th Embiid was cleared to play in back-to-back games for the first time in his career and on February 18th started at Center for the Eastern Conference All Stars!
Leading his real-life Sixers to the 4th Seed in the Eastern Conference by April, Embiid received a second ratings boost on the season all the way up to 90 overall, making him the joint-highest rated Celtic player since D5 began, level with the legendary Kevin Garnett.
2018/19 - An All Star starter in real life, ranked 4th in the DPOY race, 7th in the race for NBA Most Valuable Player, All-NBA Second Team Center and Second Team All-Defensive Team, the accolades piled up like leaves in Autumn as Joel solidified himself in the argument for best big-man in the league. In D5 he eclipsed even the legendary Kevin Garnett's player rating (90) by being raised to a 93 total, the highest ever for a D5 Celtic, and was good for 6th in the league in PPG, 9th in RPG and 2nd in BPG.
Embiid led the D5 Celtics to the second round for the first time in six years, beating the Bulls in the first round and falling short in the second round, losing to the eventual champions Milwaukee Bucks, facing off against the great Anthony Davis in the middle and forging the beginnings of what could be a great Eastern Conference rivalry.
2019/20 - After Embiid's real-life Sixers brought too many cooks to the kitchen, signing Al Horford, Tobias Harris and Josh Richardson, statistically there was a slight regression in the big-man's numbers. Similarly with the arrival of Lebron James in D5 Boston, Embiid's performances plateaued and stopped increasing for the first time in his career so far despite his rating further increasing to a Celtics all-time high of 93, only to be eclipsed by the newly arrived Lebron James (97).
Named an All Star starter for the second year running, Joel was the only bright spot of the Sixers short playoffs run, averaging career highs of 30ppg 12.3rpg for the short-handed Sixers. Embiid remained the offensive and defensive focal point for the Celtics as he and Lebron James led the team to a league best 65 win season, losing only two games en route to the Eastern Conference Finals where the Celtics were unluckily eventually beaten by the eventual champion Charlotte Hornets in seven games.
