DETROIT Pistons (42 W - 30 L) suffer their second losing month of the season (6 wins / 9 losses in March, 7/8 in January). A four game losing streak in mid-March, versus WAS, CHA, TOR and NYN (all below the Pistons in the Eastern Conference) has likely cost the team their chance at a 50 win season. That goal, which seemed so close after a solid month of February now requires 8 wins n the remaining 10 games in April.
Detroit is settled into the four seed, five and a half games behind CHI for division lead and 4 games ahead of CLE at the 5th seed, who are almost a lock to be Detroit's 1st round opponent. In 16 games – 7 wins and 9 losses; 4-3 at home, 3-6 on the road; 2-2 vs. Western Conference, 5-7 vs. East; 1-2 vs. Central Division rivals; back to backs – won 1, lost 2, split 1.
Monthly Averages: For – 97.8 (96.6 in Feb, 97.5 in Jan, 95.9 in Dec, 101 in Nov), Against – 98.2 (90.2 in Feb, 96.7 in Jan, 94.6 in Dec, 93 in Nov), Margin of victory +0.6, +6.4 in Feb, +0.8 in Jan, +1.3 points in Dec, +8 in Nov).
Player of the Month: Emeka Okafor – 13.5 PPG and 13 rebounds/game, with 11 double doubles in 16 games. On March 11th Emeka pulled down a D5 league record 23 rebounds.
