It's a team option, not player. You decide if it is accepted, not Kemba.

I did, doesn't Kemba have a player option that same year anyway? But regardless, I meant to trade ibaka to a contender beforehand. Would this not be likely because of his contract? Red = Team Options (you have the option to resign the player) Blue = Player Options (Usually always automatically picked up, but not always) So basically Kemba has 2 team option in the next 2 years and then a regular salary in the 3rd year. Ibaka has this coming season on his contract and then becomes a free agent able to sign with whomever he wants to. That's part of the controversy in the trade. You have a player currently (Kemba) that is on a 3 year contract and you're trading for a player on a 1 year contract that could walk away after that contract. That means you have the potential to lose BOTh players after next season.

So James Kay, hopefully you understands the contracts situation a lot more. Do you still want to do this trade?
I'm still on the fence on this.

I understand not understanding salaries and if this trade is allowed to be posted I vote we allow James one freebie to keep Walker if he decides.

I agree with this because I was in James Kay's shoes before. I think I joined a little later than most, maybe the first non-original? Anyways, I traded for Jordan Hill on an expiring contract. I thought "hey it's just like the NBA and most of the other sim leagues I have been in" but it's not. Yes people, consider this my admission that I got raped in that trade with Minny. Sorry to ramble James Kay, but let me explain to you the difference. If a player expires in the real NBA then his team gets a chance to re-sign him before any other team can bid. However, in this league, every single team with cap space can try to sign him at the same time as the re-signing team. Yes, we do have bird rights, but you have to own the player for at least two fulls seasons and part of another season in order to get them. Therefore, you would be competing with all the teams in the league with cap space to try and re-sign Ibaka. Just to take this concept and apply it, look at Dwight and the Knicks in this league. I think Dwight would re-sign with them in a heart beat if we did it like the real NBA. They have Rose and a few other good pieces, which seems attractive to me. However, every single team in the league with cap space can offer Dwight a contract before the Knicks can. I am not sure what he will pick, nor do I know what any player will do, but I am sure the Knick's GM has a sick feeling in his stomach. Also, in your case, Ibaka will want much more money than he gets under his current contract. I am not sure of your cap situation, but you may not be able to realistically sign him and it would be easy to get tricked in that matter. I hope this helps and best of luck to you.

I think I have to say reject.
If you two can get a 3rd team to take Ibaka right away in a 3-way trade, do that, and (depending on who Charlotte gets) it would be more likely to accept. But, Charlotte would be wise to get a player with 3 years or longer on his contract, since he's trading away a player like that.
Also, just a tip, don't talk down on your own players until after a trade has been accepted, lol. You're just hurting your own team's value if this trade gets rejected, which it looks like it will. Kemba is now worth less b/c you are talking him down.
Just my opinion on that.
