I don't know if this league follows the new CBA to the T, but this article provides interesting insight to how the Knicks may possibly retain both Lin and Fields. knickerblogger.net/finally-a-definitive-answer-on-jeremy-lins-contract-status/TL;DR - There exists a provision called the Gilbert Arenas Provision. It limits the amount that other teams can offer to a player with just 1 or 2 seasons of service to up to $5 Million of the non-taxpayer MLE. the MLE would land with Jeremy Lin while the Knicks hold Fields' Early Bird Rights. They could both return for roughly $5 Million around the MLE with the normal increases. Really Don't want to read - Yes, the Knicks can keep them both if the Gilbert Arenas Provision applies. the above noted provision also existed in the previous CBA. I'm sorry, but I just really think the Suns are getting 3 good young guards for a decent big and a scrub PG. like Isaiah Thomas said, the 1st Rounder is a wild card. If these apply, the main reason (not being able to retain them) that the Knicks are doing this trade is now invalid. But if these rules don't apply, we at least know that the Knicks aren't as strapped for talent as they seem.

I have no interest in keeping these guys long term.. I'm kind of baffled tp be honest how 2/3 from the committee can accept this and it doesnt go through so I am stuck with novak playing 34 minutes

Well, even as assets - keeping them for a while would probably have netted you better talent in the future, but they're your assets anyway. But that's my opinion.

IMO it's a fair trade for both teams
Suns lose a 1st round but gets immediate force for a strong team that can improve in the season.
Lin and Nash is a SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK pair and having Landry Fields, Grant Hill, Gortat and other good players make the Suns a playoff team that if well-coached and with another good trade can be a contender.
Nash and Hill are on their final seasons and they're going to play their lives to win this ring, having Lin to help is going to be great for them.
If i am part of the trade commitee i would accept it

I'm trying to go for the championship! lol Nash and Hill are in the twilight of their careers and will play the hardest they can while still keeping safe from injuries, chasing the elusive championship ring. But I must disagree. Both are still very healthy and this is not on their final season. They still have 2-4 years left to play.

Thanks for the share Dallas, I think the main problem some people were having with the trade was Phoenix giving up their first rounder haha.

Well, he was throwing Lin and Fields because he stated that he wouldn't be able to keep them. Thus leading to another case where I thought he was giving way too much again in a trade (with Orlando being the other one). But this time, he's only getting what I see as a Starting Caliber PF at best, an average first rounder and a scrub in exchange for 3 talented young guards. But then, maybe there's something about Morris that I'm just not seeing. I dunno.

WHAT DAL said agree with it, knew about Gilbert Arenas provision, Cavs had same issue with Boozer when he went to Utah.
use early bird for Fields and FULL MLE for Lin.
but the bird rights thing is a tad selective due to BOS wanting THREE years in sim leagues for FULL BIRD RIGHTS not just in real life, if that happen people would abuse sign and trade powers more often then not.

I don't really like this trade for NY, Morris will be average at best and Telfair is a srcub. In real life Phoenix just missed the playoffs so I'd say baring major injuries to their team in this league at worse they'll be the 9th seed. And with the Arenas rule Lin could have been signed for whats equal to the full MLE which isn't bad at all. Also getting Novak out of the starting lineup was no reason to do this trade, just move Melo to PF Richardson to SF and put Shumpert or Fields in at SG
