Just realized this Ian Noble , but Mozgov signed a multi year deal with BC Khimki in Moscow, which is his original team from Russia before the NBA. Seems like Mirotic he won’t be coming back

Sorry I don't understand, why are these players being retired but Alan Williams wasn't? Ian Noble It's a good point, we don't have concrete rules on this. With Mirotic, for instance, just by judging his semi-famous situation it seems like he doesn't want to return to the NBA. But with Mozgov and Lin you have a really good point, there's nothing stopping them from returning to the league. I'll come back to this decision when I have time!

my 2c says it'd be cool to just get an official rule so it doesn't have to be a hard decision every time to decide whether to retire a dude

Sorry I don't understand, why are these players being retired but Alan Williams wasn't? Ian Noble Offically I'm reinstating Jeremy Lin and Timofey Mozgov, they've only been out of the league less than a year, so whatever rule gets finally decided they can stay for now. Alan Williams is a trickier situation. He's barely played any games in the league to begin with. He's been out of the league a little longer than the other two players. Since the season is starting in five days and I need to make a decision - I say Alan Williams can leave your team and your team salaries. He's extremely unlikely to return. Some kind of system does need to be drawn up for this though, I've got it on my to-do list after the season starts and things quieten down.

Just putting this out there on Mozgov, who I know isn’t on my books for a lot next year but I think this is important context for his availability going forward. Orlando was granted by the NBA salary cap relief under the “career ending injury/illness” provision for Mozgov. He’s gone back to Russia, and has not played a single game yet for his team in Moscow. He also had a recent interview stating he’s not sure he will ever play again due to “injury misdiagnosis”. I’m fine with keeping him eligible this year, but I don’t believe he should take his PO for next year as it appears, for all intents and purposes, his career is over. www.google.com/amp/s/nba.nbcsports.com/2019/11/28/report-magic-granted-financial-relief-for-timofey-mozgovs-cap-hit/amp/

Amir Johnson has not officially retired but hasn't played since this-time last year. I found nothing on his Twitter, on any news articles, even his fake Instagram since June 2019.

As for players who are signed/committed to play abroad, I say give them three seasons before they get purged. Unless we're the type of league that does things real time, then we can keep these players on file and re-activate them once they re-sign to an NBA team.
I do recall a player in another league who was in the FA list for the longest time no one was paying attention to who was out of the NBA for three years at that point. After he was purged out of the player's database, he returned to the NBA the following season. Can't put a name to the guy, but I recall signing him late in the season because he has a high overall rating. I'll see if I can find my old roster pages somewhere.
