A) LeBron like Kevin Love. B) Julius Randle wants out of Los Angeles. C) Los Angeles wants to trade Luol Deng Does A + B + C = D D) Randle and Deng for Love That would be a terrible trade.

Wow, terrible signing by the Pelicans. What a joke, they could go after Ellington or some other actual need but nope they are gonna sign a guy who doesn't play defense, doesn't shoot and is entirely redundant.

What does LeBron need? Shooters.
What do the Lakers sign? Two terrible shooters.
What a freaking joke they are gonna make LBJ play on the worst fitting team ever. He's gonna regret leaving Cleveland or at least not choosing a better team lol.

I was just gonna post this— the WTF moment of free agency thus far. Did they really add, when healthy, a 28 ppg 14 rpg center?

My thoughts after laughing for 45 minutes were basically that his injury isn't healing good or his physicals went bad and the GSW said eh fuck it, if it works we look like geniuses if it doesn't work we're still gonna win the title.

Possibly. I kind of find it hard to believe no other team in the league would be willing to take the chance, but then again, if he was given the choice of other teams vs the Warriors...why wouldn't he go to the Warriors, I guess? Unless he wanted to build something on his own. But, I guess he just wants a free, no-effort ring. Great.

I'm thinking if no one was offering him max money (have to think he takes it if its on the table) he said screw it I can get a ring and maximize my exposure to get a bigger contract next season.

Does any team even have a chance against: Curry, Thompson, Durant, Green and Cousins, plus they have a good bench and which ever veteran minimum contracts they hand out?

People act like the warriors weren't already set to win the next 2-5 titles. Marc Spears said boogie didn't have any real offers because of his Achilles

Love it, bring on the hard cap and take out the max contract. Every year was already a GS year after the KD signing, this doesn't change anything this year except peoples perception of the NBA.

It's nice to be able to say: the current GSW are, without a doubt, the most stacked team in the history of the NBA, if they weren't already. I think overall though it's a mild disgrace. None of their championships will mean anything to anyone. At least, with the ridiculous CHA and CHI situations here at D5, we're actually still well within the boundaries of realism now

Cousins won't touch the court until after the all star break. No one knows how he will be. It should be interesting to see; especially here. Will we leave him at a 93 when he plays only 5-10 minutes s game up until the last few weeks of the season? From my standpoint, I hope he sucks. Just so I can go back to my trade thread after being blasted by others in this league.

$5.3 mil is still a lot of money. Especially to get paid to heal and then come back for the playoff push and post season. Which vets sign next?

This has been one of my problems with D5 free agency for a long time. We have to have logical decisions that can be defended using objective criteria. That's why everything usually comes down to most money + best chance to win. The system is basically designed to favour the rich. Real life can do whatever the hell it wants. LeBron can sign with a shitty Lakers team and DeMarcus Cousins can sign for the MLE. It doesn't matter if it makes no sense to most people, this is what happened, deal with it. For D5 though 'this is what happened, deal with it' is just a great way to make everyone quit the league. There's some old Mark Twain quote that basically goes 'truth is stranger than fiction because fiction has to be believable.' That's the position we're in.

It sucks but there’s no other way - because we have the GMs themselves handling Free Agency, there’s no way to introduce randomness without bias. There’s no reasonable path for the Player Agents to give personality traits to players, because they’re often in positions they have never been in.

I've thought about some kind of system that uses a random number generator, kind of like the draft lottery. We'd take all the offers for a player, evaluate them, then give probabilities like 85% team A, 7% team B, 5% team C, 3% team D. You then run the random number generator and there's your result. Some amount of randomness would be introduced and it could be really interesting. The obvious issue though is that the bias is just moved from where the decision is made to how probabilities are assigned. So it doesn't really solve the problem.

I know it’s not on the DMC to GSW level. But I’m liking what the Pacers are doing. Adding Aaron Holiday in the draft, Doug McD (sharpshooter), and Tyreke Evans. Can they challenge for a top 2 spot in the East? It’ll be a fight between Boston, Philly, Toronto (if they don’t blow it up), and Indiana. Indiana keeps quietly improving.

Who would you have chose in their slot?
Hoping TJ Leaf can improve.
They have Cory Joseph as a back up, if Holiday can come in and play like Justin or Jrue it will make Jospeh tradable.
