LA Lakers Send:Reggie Bullock (67): $1,125,458 Chris McCullough (68): $1,035,700 - $1,869,439 - $2,804,158 Luis Scola (65): $2,500,000 Jimmer Fredette (63): $815,615 New Orleans Pelicans Send: Pattrick Patterson (75): $6,599,103 - $5,945,138 I accept. I’m doing this deal because I believe Patterson is a solid bench player for this year and next year. Especially on a bench that could feature a scorer like Jamal Crawford. Patterson is a solid role player that is a good defender. Also, he was someone that was framed as a “LeBron Stopper” on the internet. And, as everyone knows, you can’t have too many fake “LeBron Stoppers” on your team or guys that get confused for LeBron at local Chipotles. Low expiring contracts and players that don’t factor into my future are going the other way. I'm aware of the money Patterson is due next season and I'm comfortable giving him that amount as I believe he can be a useful player on my bench.

The main question I have is 'why'? Mark Price - what's your long-term plan for the Lakers and how does this trade fit into it?

He fits into my bench next year. There's no point of tanking the next couple of years because I don't have picks. That's about the going rate for a bench SF/PF. Considering the players don't fit into my future and the goal is to keep the 2019 free agent year open it's basically the same as signing a one year deal in the off-season. Getting a player like that in free agency would probably require me to give up more years which is not something I want to do. My goal is to compete for the playoffs in 2019 and make a push in free agency that summer. This move allows me to do both.
On the same token it doesn't constrain me in free agency this off season even though the prospects a big name like LeBron or Giannis is virtually impossible.

I accept. Patterson is a good rotation pf but I have Aminu and hernangomez to fill that role.

If it's not clear here, mark is trading me the bullock and Jimmer contracts not the players themselves. I don't have roster spots to take on the players
