Philadelphia 76ers - Glenn Robinson III
Year 1: $9,000,000 Year 2: $9,000,000 Year 3: $9,000,000 Year 4: $9,000,000 (PO)
Glenn has chosen to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. While it was a little less guaranteed money than the Boston Celtics offered, it was over a shorter period of time and we felt it allowed Glenn more freedom and earning potential. At this point of Glenn's career it just did feel like it made sense for him to be passing up better money per year.
While not as big an issue, playing time also came into account. Ian did say that Glenn would play at SG primarily, the pure number of wings on the Celtics still gave reason for concern and we ultimately felt there was a clearer line for playing time with the 76ers.
2) I stopped offering at $31m/4yr (or $39m/5yr) and GR3 left me and signed for $36m/4yr so he could sit behind Monta Ellis and Shabazz Muhammad.
1)To be fair, if you did offer over $100m like all my other BR clients got Glenn probably would've stayed. I didn't exactly have a history of loyalty with Glenn that I could pull.
2) Considering $39/5, he'd only need to get a contract of $3m for year 5 to make the same - since this year's offers are the only things I can really use as a baseline, I'd say he has a pretty good shot at that.
And fine you're pretty thin at the two, but on wings overall there's quite the jam. Simmons,Ingram,Murray,Grant,Jaylen, Mclemore, Ennis and maybe even Jabari to some extent are all players who figure to take time at either the 2 or 3.
Anyway, Monta practically killed his rating last year - Shabazz was okay, Brogs could probably go up but overall it's just a clearer situation.
Goodbye Glenn Robinson. Followed you all of 2013/14 at Michigan. Followed your dad at Purdue, had his Purdue and Bucks jersey when I was a teenager half a lifetime ago. Picked you 9 spots higher than you were picked IRL way back in 2014. Now you've won the dunk contest, Paul George has left Indiana and you're going to get loads of minutes to hopefully keep shooting 40% 3PT. It's distressing to see you leave but I didn't want to jeopardise the future of the Celtics by offering too much.
Eh, Glenn is alright but I wouldn't be crying he's gone. I MIGHT have gone a bit higher on him but Indiana just signed a few guards and he might not find the minutes as easily this year.

George Gervin: He is still one the leagues premier offensive rebounders and is a great glue guy, but agreed his contract coupled with the direction the league is going, he is tough to move. Still only 25 though

Josh Barber: I think Adams might be close to unmovable on his contract for what he gives you

Jerry West: Quick reminder that Bogdanovic is on the block and has a very team friendly contract.

George Gervin: Adams probably would net good value for them, but it may make more sense to deal Russ for a lot of solid pieces or young guys
Apr 24, 2019 14:59:27 GMT
Josh Barber: Its an overreaction but I do think they need to do something. They are capped out between Westbrook/PG/Adams and only won 1 game

George Gervin: Russ is probably gonna be the Lakers panic move when no FAs come to them

George Gervin: Overreaction of the day on sports talk shows: Should OKC trade Russ, and to which team?

Josh Barber: Westbrook was 40/111 on the series. That's an average of 22.2 shots per game at 36% shooting. yikes

George Gervin: Sad thing is in the 4th quarter he was going shot for shot with Lillard, but his poor shooting through the first three quarters kept Portland in striking range
Apr 24, 2019 12:25:45 GMT
Amare Stoudemire: Russ always is gonna be russ! Cant win no title with russ on your team!
Apr 24, 2019 12:07:00 GMT
George Gervin: Russ picked a bad time to go 11 for 31 from the floor..
